if comcast is doing it... in the end everyone will do it. The reason when everyone went to more and more streaming they had to build more data buildings. So they pass the cost on to you. Call up your provider and ask them how much you are using now.. that would let you know if you are going over the limit or not.

Cox, Frontier, and the rest will do the same no doubt. Your usage should be on your bill.

How many people are really going over those limits? I'm thinking you have to be running a lot of 4K video for many hours a day to get there. Probably families with a lot of gamer kids are at risk. Average people who watch 5 hours of HD video and then WFH aren't even coming close to it.

Comcast been doing this for year's in the Detroit area. My nephew works sales for the competition here. Wide open west and makes a killing as they don't have a data cap. Probably half my Detroit area customers use WOW because if this. And id guess more than half go over their Comcast data cap. The one's who still use Comcast. But if you join a certain plan of theirs they wave the cap. Most are on that. Just another way they gouge us. OP said tax. I thought this was something different I wasn't aware of. Very easy to go over their data caps if you stream more than a couple devices in your home. They will get you one way or another. These companies don't make a lot on your cable package believe it or not cause the fees from the networks are so high. Also the reason none offer channels alacart. They make their money on the internet. More if they laid the lines in your neighborhood.

james dolan years ago bought the knicks with his cable money.........still has the knicks but sold the cable company to the french... they then increased prices. now we are getting capped too

You should be able to check Daily usage on your companies website. Cox has it at least. Helped me stay under the Cap the whole time they had everyone locked down and everyone using and streaming. And while they were telling you they are there for you in these tough times. They snuck in charge of 10 bucks for every so much you went over cap. They are also liars. Told me something couldn't be fixed as it was during Covid and they were not allowing workers inside where problem was according to them. BULLSHIT! If you won't come in my house then send a guy to outside box and get it done with no fee or Supervisor please. I tell him to look at my bill. Look at my phone. 60 bucks and I never make a call. Do this or I'm done. Next day outside guy finds a magic fix. 3 months ago and working fine.

In the end guys they will find a way to take this away from us. For 3 years I've been watching every sport, ppv movie and about 2000 American channels for pennies.

I looked at my usage , I'm at 468 with two days to go. I use streaming services for TV exclusively on all TVs in the house, but I read that uses 3/hour so that seems about right. I use Zoom occasionally, but it doesn't seem like that big a usage hog. So it seems like the likeliest people to have issues are those with a large household including kids.
