Other than Kobayashi, we need Matt Stonie back to make this half way competitive, and Badlands Booker that much more entertaining.
From a betting perspective, it's gotten more interesting.Joey Chestnut, the 16-time champion of the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, will not compete in the annual Fourth of July event next month, Major League Eating announced Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Major League Eating (MLE) told ESPN that Chestnut had chosen to "represent another hot dog brand" and therefore would not be allowed to participate in the Nathan's contest, which is held annually at New York City's Coney Island.
Chestnut, competitive eating's biggest star who has won the event eight years in a row, reportedly agreed to a sponsorship deal with Impossible Foods, a company that makes plant-based hot dogs, and a competing company to Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs.

One does what they need to do to win. Chestnut already has the record. Could he have probably scarfed down another 5 hot dogs today? Almost certainly. But no need to.Chestnut devours 57 hot dogs in an El Paso exhibition, and takes him half the time. Don't get why his performance declined over the last few years in Coney Island other than an injury. Way to lose that payday.
He's always looking to better hinsrmelf. He's always sayjng it when interviewed. The 70.5 he downed today he looked more like hinself, but the runner up he beat scarfed a dozen less than last year. One does what they need to do to win. Chestnut already has the record. Saying it is one thing. Human nature is what it is. And is he “bettering himself” by further inflating an already winning number? No, each additional hot dog will just further ensure problems down the line for him and his digestive system. He's always looking to better hinsrmelf. He's always sayjng it when interviewed. Of course saying it is ine thing, but time and time again and under pressure he has not disappointed. How many times has he unexpectedly been capable and justified his legacy with another record? Even if he diesn't capture another personal record, you can't deny the fact that he still adds to his surpassed titles by literally being automatic by just flat out winning the event despite leaving out the possibility of statistically outdoing himself. Consider also how many competitive eating events he takes part in, aside from hot dog consumption.Saying it is one thing. Human nature is what it is.
