JK used to host a weekly podcast called Winning Wednesdays. I would love to see some sort of a resurrection of this.

I think 30 minutes would be sufficient and then build from there.

I remember creating the name for that weekly podcast featuring the late Ken Weitzner.

I told "The Shrink" I had two ideas for the title of the hourlong show.

Either "Winning Wednesdays" or "Wednesdays with Weitzner."

Given Ken's rather large ego, I made the latter title -- the eponymous one -- the 1/9 favorite.

Here's hoping Ken cashed a nice ticket at odds of 6/1 on the chosen name.

The key to a sports betting podcast is the guest list.

You need experienced voices who have proven success in the arena.

Frauds and posers get exposed quickly.

Guys like Dink, Railbird, Heim, FACTSMAN, Mike Corrigan, Parlaynow and ComptrBob are both entertaining and informative.

The only two roles of the host are 1) Ask probing, provocative questions and 2) Get out of the way.

JK, you used to have on air a guy named John Netto (I believe that was his name).....wasn't he a wall street guy? He was always interesting, what ever happened to him?

Netto is a fast talker.

He received rave reviews, although ComptrBob was hesitant to praise his offerings.

Interesting.

Ken’s ego had no problem offing his wife, dogs and himself. Still don’t know why he did that. It couldn’t have been that bad.

At least Shrink has gone 11 years without doing anything bad which shatters his previous record of 4 and a half and since he's dead, good chance he can keep it going.

Too much market reliance. Look at Fezzik.

He won't make a move without
market confirmation. He wins?

I remember those think tank meetings on Tuesday at Nettos' house in Southern Highlands.

They tried to impress with leaked photos representing the best of the best

Then you saw Teddy Covers sitting there and knew it was all bs.

Paul Bovi more or less claiming that he had a perpetual money tree to cover sports betting losses was an interesting listen.

I thought the show by now would have returned with Factsman's offer to JK a couple years ago.

They don't last because as you point out being informative is a tough ask on a regular basis. Further you get too many people who are combative and will tell you the way to win at sports betting is doing X, Y and Z and if you don't do it you are an idiot and you can't possibly win. This is why ideas like Vsin seem good for a bit and then get stale for most people. I doubt people listen intently to Vsin at all anymore, just background noise and listeners perk up only when you get to a very specific subject of interest to them.

A podcast to last has to be more about being entertaining than informative IMO. Grinding out sports winners and getting to be a winner year after year is not fun or interesting, nor does it make for good listening. Most of the people who think I want to be a winner don't have the patience or personality for it. But we all can be entertained by people who work or worked in the industry and can tell stories about it that are of "general interest".

JK can certainly be a good interviewer of interesting guests and probably could get on an occasional technical guest that can be good for a show. Sort of like back in the day when doing the Stardust Line show, if it was just the usual crew talking reactions to the football openers it got real boring real fast. Dave Cokin can know about every backup QB in the land, but it doesn't make for an interesting show. All that mattered on that show for most listeners was what were the opening lines and how did they move, the rest was not very entertaining filler unless you had on a different guest who told good stories or talked about things outside the simple realm of picking winners for next weekend.

Just my two cents...

I am more interested in how a winning sports bettor went from A to profitable and the ups and downs along the way.
That is where the mental side is exposed and you can see someone's make up when they get beat down but continue with the adventure.

The toughest part of guests who are asked to provide selections is they have to win a bet twice.

They have to win the bet....but on the radio they must also win with a solid reasoning.

They might advise an under with good reason but then win the bet because of three red zone turnovers and two missed field goals and people with yell they don't know shit.

Tough racket

JK is an entertaining guy, maybe just start off going solo, and having whomever chime in as the show plays, possibly via text or chat.

a podcast can be any length, no need for a dogmatic 1 or 1/2 hour format.

RAYCABINO's Cajun accent would be a draw, aside from his gambling insight from both sides of the counter.

Hoping to get a rematch of the regular season college football game between Alabama and Georgia, so we can put RAY's strong opinion on Georgia winning the rematch to the test.

WILLY LOMAN's analysis of the Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes would be a natural fit.

Plus, he could tell us the secrets to dating girls half his age.

WildBill qualifies as a media critic.

I agree with his take on VSIN.

The noble project gave the patina of a legitimate radio network until you listened to 10 minutes of its subpar programming and then endured another commercial break.

Im about as sharp as a marble....I like VSiN...it's on in the background , at home and in the car instead of local sports radio.

I like the first 3 shows of the day
I don't listen for picks...I listen for entertainment and maybe hearing something I can iuse.
My Ohtani MVP bet was courtesy of being lucky enough to hear someone mention duing a spring training AL West preview that Ohtani was as healthy as ever entering this season.....thought to myself hmmmm, wonder what his MVP odds are....right place right time for me

Bobby the Owl is always a good listen......I love JK's ongoing joke about how Bobby cashes a daily parlay!!!!!!!

Never gets old.

Bobby has hit a two-team parlay every day since the first day he arrived in Las Vegas in 1961.

What's the two-teamer?

The first leg: Bobby to go to sleep at night.

The second leg: Bobby to wake up the next morning.

"Bobby the Owl" turned 86 earlier this month.

i would like to hear john Coragan on the show. i really don't remember his name

Ah yes.

Mike Corrigan.

Veteran of the betting wars from southern California.

When he sweats the results, he likes to go to his medicine cabinet.

He has a pill for the NFL, NBA and MLB.

He also has pills for big decisions in live betting and overtime periods.
