Is the NFL out of its mind?

A football game in mid-January......in Buffalo.......at NIGHT!

What could possibly go wrong?

Instead of playing the Eagles/Bucs game tonight in 65 degree weather, and playing the Bills/Patriots game at 1 pm on Sunday when it is expected to be 27 degrees, they opt for this insanity.

The whole thing sucks for the fans who are there, and takes away from the quality of the game for the players.

It is a disgrace!

Who the fuck is in charge here?

The opening odds start here
Buffalo is used to playing in this type of weather. Same for NE.

I see nothing wrong with it. Defending Super Bowl champs should play on Sunday.

I'm okay with snow on the ground and wind in the air.

My only complaint is fog.

We're left guessing what happened.

Remember the Eagles-Bears Fog Bowl in the late 1980's?

Years ago, there was a jockey (Sylvester Carmouche) who used the cover of fog to surreptitiously win a race at Delta Downs.

Tsk tsk.

I don't have an objection to playing a game in ridiculously frigid temperatures......if you ABSOLUTELY have to.

My point here is that you DIDN'T absolutely have to last night.

You could easily have scheduled this the way I mentioned at the start of the thread. It would have made for better quality football.

And if the NFL likes "weather games".........how about playing next year's Super Bowl in Buffalo?............and start the game at 8 pm.

Temperature at the North Pole at 8:15 (eastern time) tonight will be minus 22 degrees with winds of 12 mph.

Damn.......why not!

Give the big guy some tax breaks and build Santa Stadium (outdoor venue, of course.)

OUCH, you make a good point about the NFL "protecting" the Super Bowl from nasty weather.

Why stop there?

Here's an idea: Make the AFC and NFC Championship Games neutral-site affairs in warm-weather cities.

Those two games deserve more hype.

I prefer Championship Sunday over Super Bowl Sunday.

Call me old-fashioned, but I still believe in rewarding the teams (and their fans) who are the higher seed with a home game on championship Sunday.

The atmosphere is more electric than the Super Bowl which tends to have more "corporate" ticket holders who sit on their hands for most of the game.

My only suggestion is to play the afternoon game in Green Bay and the night game in Tampa. It makes for better quality football.

How hard can that be?

They Held It One Year, Outdoors, at Giants Stadium.

Today is Hockey Day in Minnesota. If the high schools can play in zero degree weather, so can paid athletes in Green Bay.

But if a team is truly superior, they should be able to prove it on a neutral field.

I remember working with a group from 3M. Ice fishing is apparently a big sport in Minnesota.
It's not what you think it is(for most guys) people think you're sitting out in the cold staring at a hole in the ice. The reality is these fish houses are heated, have electricity/plumbing, some have sat TV - it's a big drinking fest.

Yeah, its just an excuse to build a party cabin. Interesting that there's a law requiring all vehicles and structures be removed by the springtime melt. Some guys forgot and just left their beat-up trucks out on the lakes.

They'll fine you if you leave it there, if it goes through the ice they'll prob charge you to fish it out. I'm talking houses, dont think anyone leaves a vehicle out there. On larger lakes they plow and maintain roads to get out to the good spots, if the snow is deep it's needed to keep people from getting stuck all over.

As you probably know, I was a Trey Lance believer before that draft. I would now give him a shot to see if he could spark something. He grew up in the cold in Minn and played at SDakotaSt. Would be a lot to ask. But Jimmy G is Pick 6 waiting to happen.
