Jorge Navarro arrested for drugging horses

Yep... got away with it for years. Surprised the feds actually did something about it. I wonder if Broberg is next?

New light concerning Maximum Security's efforts.

Weinke never liked Jason Servis.

I thought the underreported part of the controversial disqualification in last year's Kentucky Derby was Mark Casse's initial thoughts on calling an inquiry on his buddy Jason Servis.

Casse trained War of Will, the horse most impeded by Maximum Security's reckless swerve.

Just like baseball, the cheating horsemen force the clean guys to think about cheating.

I remember Mark Grace once saying 80% of big-league ballplayers were juicing in the mid-aughts.

I wonder what the estimate would be among horse trainers that juice and those who don't?

My trainer is clean...one thing that kept me from going back in was going up against guys like Navarro

The feds’ release includes this intercepted text message from indicted trainer Nicholas Surick, referring to Navarro: “You know how many [expletive] horses he [expletive] killed and broke down that I made disappear? You know how much trouble he could get in … if they found out … the six horses we killed?”

Who didn't know this? Every trainer from outside the country was like everyone is cheating in the US, horses don't get that big or as injured as they do.

Glad to hear the news although we all know there's numerous other "move up specialists" who are also likely guilty.

Belinda Stronach and the Stronach Group (who own Santa Anita and Gulfstream, among other tracks) look like hypocrites. Jerry Hollendorfer had a few breakdowns last year but to my knowledge has not had any issues with postrace positives, gets banned. In the meantime, Stronach gives out as many stalls as possible to both Navarro and Servis. Anyone who has followed racing even mildly suspected both were cheats. Feels like Bud Selig at the height of MLB's steroid era.

Did TVG discuss this at all or was it more of

Andy Beyer has been writing about "super trainers" for years.

Talking about TVG's coverage of the latest horse racing scandal, it reminds me of a similar situation in college football when the Big Ten Network failed to cover the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State.

Publicists, not journalists.

Don’t follow much harness, but from what I read, Navarro and some guy from Freehold are the most fucked.
Lol at Navarro telling Servis multiple times not to talk about it on the phone. Servis was not a smart criminal at all.

Maximum Security now under the care of trainer Bob Baffert.

Wonder how the horse's diet will change now, if at all.

Feel better about the Derby result?

Things could have been worse.

Of course, things could always be worse.

Maximum Security could have cut the legs from under War of Will entering the homestretch of last year's Kentucky Derby.

Imagine the carnage, human and equine, if the lead horses went down at the head of the stretch at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May.

Chilling.

Nothing worse than a shitty track in a shitty region.
Is the implication that the accused juicers and some of the big-money betting groups were working as one?
That's the implication

It would make sense then, that when Navarro would have horse at 8/1+, it would almost never win. Even when he was on one of his streaks.

blueline, could you look up the roi on Navarro horses that went off at 5/1+.. my guess is it would be a horrible #.
