Does anyone ever venture into the casino section of your favorite online sportsbook?

Reload said:I've had my share of play at them. I got into it when sometimes I was a few bucks short for a bet I wanted to make. Rather than transfer money in and everything, it just seemed easier to play a few hands of blackjack. But overall, I don't recommend getting involved in it - it's one of those things that just brings out the worst in you as a gambler. It can start out as a few hands and pretty soon you sit there all night chasing a loss.
I am not implying they are "rigged". I certainly won quite a few hands - even many that looked hopeless. Even times I had three hands of blackjack going at once with the maximum on each, and won all three. The games don't need to be rigged - you will lose eventually just from the house edge.
Obviously there are some exceptions to still play the online casions, like the recent promo Skybook had. I lost $2.50 but gained $500 in free play gaming funds. That was pretty cool. Would like to see more promos like that.

Reload said:This is a long thread. Anything in particular?
kidslick said:it basically showed about 100 or so people playing blackjack min of 300 hands and most of them either won 20 or 30 dollars or lost 20 bucks.
this is 10 people playing at least 300 hands of black jack.
i also played an additional 200 hands of black jack and won 11 bucks
it seems very legit..

Reload said:Well, there's no question they got a ton of publicity from the promo. Obviously a few people got sucked into playing extra hands, or higher amounts.
Heavier wagers or not, the game of blackjack doesn't need to be rigged for the house to make a profit. Wish more people understood that. Skybook, of all places, does enough to give people a fair shot at winning.

However, I've also seen a lot of testimony from players who've witnessed a definite negative change whenever they increase their BJ wagers.... :+paraanoid

Reload said:I don't see how big operations like Skybook or others would bother rigging a game to screw someone out of $100 bet instead of a $2 bet. If enough people lose big money or feel the game is rigged, they stop playing it, tell others not to play it, etc. You would lose more business and future expected losses/vigorish by rigging the game then you would by giving people a fair chance to win.
August West said:I did the 300 $1 hands at Skybook today for their promotion. Ended up around +$30. Then I decided to play for real. $10 bets, Increasing by $5 or $10 after each win, and going back to $10 after a loss. You can definitely tell the difference when you're betting more. I think I was like 0 for 10 on double downs. Not much better on splits. I definitely felt up against it especially when betting over $25/hand.
I just hope i get the $500 freeplay.

The biggest problem is that patience and gambling generally do not go hand-in-hand...
