Las Vegas A's

It appears that the MLB owners approved the A's relocation to LV unanimously, 30-0.

It's incredible to know that LV is home to 3 of the 4 major league sports.

Just a matter of time before the NBA arrives as well.

What better place to have major league sports....my buddies are already wanting to plan trips to LV to see the Red Wings, Lions, and now there's opportunity for the Detroit Tigers.

The city of Oakland and Alameda County bungled it. The Tesla site between 880 and 680 in Fremont would've been a good spot. And a better area too.

The opening odds start here
Stadium won't be ready until 2028. 4 more years of rodents, nice and other creatures in the broadcast booths.

A DISGRACE!
I was in favor of Vegas getting an NHL team - as long as it was a new one and not someone moving there.
Raiders to Vegas works because the commute from LA is shorter than those in LA going to Oakland.
Vegas WILL get an NBA team sometime down the line - OK.
THIS IS GOING TO BE A DISASTER!
Knowing where the park will be - YIKES! That corner has enough traffic - it does not need this. The team will struggle to draw fans.
If I was MLB I would allow to team to move to Vegas under ONE condition: The current owner has to sell the team. You F****D IT UP in Oakland. I would not let him do the same here. Team can move - JUST NOT YOU!

i'M predicting THE attendance will be
very good to very excellent
because
1. there will be a very long honeymoon period
2. Las Vegas has a very large population base
3.Popular road teams
e.g. yankees red sox dodgers giants
will automatically get big crowds
and perhaps the team gets a little bit good or very good
also despite what you say
the Location is fantastic
Thay will get a lot of game day walk up tourists

1.) 2 years. That will be it.
2.) Maybe so but knowing the NHL and NFL are there will not help.

They might get big crowds when teams like The Evil Empire, Red Sox, Cubs and Dodgers play there but bottom feeders will be easy to get tickets.

I do think the team could be better because the owner will be forced to spend money - once they move from the minor league park to the new one.

The location is nice but unless they do something to alleviate the mess that corner will be - YIKES! Knowing it will only seat slightly over 30,000 if they have walk up gameday people coming to the game that will be trouble!

What will help is that the NHL and NBA (and it arrives - and it will arrive) don't have much of an overlap - regular season wise. If either makes the playoffs and has a long run it could go until June and that will hurt attendance. The one thing that will have to be done is NHL/MLB/NBA will have to work things out so 2 are not playing at the same time.

I still think it will not be the roaring success some/many think it will be

I’m not sure the owner will be forced to spend, I imagine it will be like the chargers games, where there will be a 50/50 split of fans.

If they make this a 35k seat venue it is going to be a hot ticket

Hopefully it's a retractable roof

Maybe vegas starts a winter league also.

It's a great thing

BTW. If they play at the Summerlin field expect totals like coors field. Very small park with a great batters eye.

Totals in the 12 to 13.5 range will be normal

It has to be. Just like in AZ they will need it for July/August and maybe some of June/September.

The schedule for the 2024 MLB season had already been set by the time the A's relocation plans were announced. That means that the Athletics will still play at the Coliseum for that season, which the team plans to be its final year in Oakland. The A's would cooperate with MLB to look at options for a temporary home in 2025, with Las Vegas, Reno, Sacramento, and San Francisco's Oracle Park under consideration.[95] These plans were later confirmed by an Athletics spokesperson in an interview with The Mercury News while the options in Las Vegas and Reno were contingent on approval from the MLB Players Association (MLBPA).[96] In the case of Reno and Sacramento, both cities had Triple-A facilities that could be used to accommodate the Athletics for three seasons similar to Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin. On June 20, the city of Oakland and Alameda County explored the options of forcing the Athletics to pay $30 million in purchase payments for the Coliseum due to its joint ownership of the facility and impending relocation to Las Vegas.[97]
