Garza turns 22 next week.

He'll play professionally but likely will be forced to buy NBA tickets on StubHub.

JK, was just kidding, but he's VERY GOOD and will be a force in the NBA

I'll bet against Garza being "a force" in the NBA.

But I like him, too, collegiately.

He's listed 6-7.

The good footwork only gets you so far in that league.

Of course, for role players, a lot depends on where you land as a free agent.

Lost by 10 to Gonzaga but shot only 4-for-22 from beyond the arc.

Meantime, the Zags hit half of their 26 long-range shots.

Gonzaga will cut down the nets in 2021....

West Coast Conference schedule typically has the Zags fresh, but untested, in March.

That will be the case again this season.

GU will be a double-digit favorite in every WCC game this season, including on the road against St. Mary's.

But credit Mark Few for a tough schedule in the non-conference season.

Big game coming up this Saturday: Gonzaga against Virginia at a neutral site in Fort Worth, Texas.

The total will be a tricky handicap because the Zags want to run and the Cavs do not.

Every year people ask the same question, is this the best Gonzaga team ever?

As for Garza, he will have the same NBA career as Tyler Hansbrough.

The biggest difference between Garza and Hansbrough?

Garza will not be a lottery pick, if drafted at all, while Hansbrough was the 13th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

And, of course, Garza is far less athletic than Hansbrough.

One similarity between Garza and Hansbrough: They both played all four seasons at a big-time program.

Rarely a good sign for NBA potential.

Tim Duncan would be an exception to the rule.

Duncan's front court mate, David Robinson, another exception.

Some of my favorite college players of all time played four seasons. One that comes to mind is Robbie Hummel who actually played five! Had a cup of coffee in The League, but that was all.

Ah yes, David Robinson.

But, of course, we're talking more than 30 years ago.

Searching now for the best NBA player to compete four years at the collegiate level over the last decade.

Funny line recently from the father of Ayo Dosunmu, star sophomore guard at the University of Illinois.

Dosunmu came back to Illinois after his freshman season instead of declaring for the 2020 NBA Draft where interest was lukewarm.

He's now slotted to be a late first-round draft pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after improving his game during the offseason.

Cue his father: "My son ain't no four-year player."

I don't think Garza will have the opportunity to punch any NBA players.

Haha.

The 2016 NBA Draft class produced a trio of four-year college players who made a significant impact on the NBA: Buddy Hield, Caris LeVert and Malcolm Brogdon.

Searching for an All-Star now.

Finally found the last four-year college player to be an All-Star.

Let's hear it for Draymond Green, a second-round draft pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

No wonder there's a stigma attached to players who exhaust their college eligibility.

And this is why I will once again bet against them in the tournament. It is impossible for them to prepare to the step up in competition playing against WCC all year. It is just impossible. There are a lot of top teams that they are still better than, but the same reason the SEC in college foots produces the deepest talent of teams....you play the best and you'll have a chance to beat the best. You play shit all year and resilience doesn't come on the fly in college and pro sports. Great team, but for the same reasons they falter eventually...same again this year.

They get more competition in practice

Somewhat shocked that Wisconsin opened the favorite. Have lost 12 straight at Breslin and have not won there since 2004. I would think Sparty would have a focused effort after upset at Northwestern.
