Will be interesting but at Miss St he will have actual athletes to run the offense so wouldn't shock me if he has success. Look what happened to LSU once they finally put a real offensive system in. Not that Miss St talent is eqivalent to LSU talent but its as a bit better than wash st talent.
As a UW alum, I am dearly going to miss Mike Leach. Shit we may lose an Apple Cup again in the future.
Despite the hate, Leach is a good coach. Not many coaches can win Lubbock and Pullman. He won at both.
At Texas Tech he was 84-43 overall, 47-33 in conference, and never had a losing season. He took the Red Raiders to a bowl game in each of the 10 seasons he was there.
At WSU he was 55-47 and 36-36 in conference. He wins with lesser talent.
His system does have a ceiling and an obvious weakness, which of course gets scrutinized. The Air Raid puts a lot of pressure on the defense.
He will need to recruit better at Miss St if he is going to have the same type of success. As previously stated, he will get better athletes by default. But the competition is a steep step up in class.
Wazzu had a polynesian pipeline. Wazzu went to bowl game every yr, hadnt been in 8 yrs prior.[/
How many conference titles did Leech win at Wazzu?....I’ll wait....
I thought you were against analytics? If that stat is true, than it’s a very flawed stat. Replacing a coach at a national power is much harder than replacing someone at Wazzou - just ask USC.His W.A.R win above replacement is best in college football history
What exactly had Leech won at Wash State?....maybe a few games but never a conference title.....
And those are perfect jobs for him. I think he would fail miserably at an elite program and dealing with the egos of 4 and 5-star recruits.I said Leach was a good coach. And provided his resume to back that up.
I never said he was great. We aren't putting him up against Saban and Dabo here. But he has done what very few coaches have. Win in Pullman and Lubbock. With lesser talent. In Power 5 conferences. He not only pulled it off once, but twice.
He's a good/successful coach. There is really no arguing otherwise.

Mike Price did about the same in Pullman.

You are such a fucking clown. If we look at the current messes at USC and UCLA shouldn't we say the WAR of Pete Carroll and Terry Donahue are off the charts compared to Mike Leach?
If you’re a good defensive player with a chance at the NFL, are you going to play for Leach? It’s not the conference to ignore your defense unless he plans on scoring 40+.Leach will never be a great coach as long as he continues to ignore his defense.
Watch Leach when his D is on the field. He's all by himself on the sideline sometimes as much as 80 yards away from the action. That type of attitude doesn't build for good team morale and turns the O and D against each other into two different teams.
