I remember betting with Bowmans in 1990 while in college. They claimed taxes on Isle of Man or wherever it was was 10% of your wager off the top. Took me one week of NFL to see how horrible that was. I have bet at probably 50 books offshore over the years, forgot most of the names.

Casino violence

A small group of people gathered near the sports book inside the Stardust hotel-casino Monday morning and watched as a man was handcuffed after a shooting. Others didn't know what happened and just continued gambling.

I was there as well.

Still remember the yellow crime scene tape.

The man who was shot ran out the back entrance of the sports book only to die near the bank of pay phones on the wall.

The following day, I went to the sports book counter and asked Joe Lupo, "Would you reserve two seats for me in the NON-SHOOTING section, please?"

What was the story behind Alan Boston getting attacked while going from the Riviera to Stardust for JK's show? Maybe it was for the handicapping contest?

I have heard 5 theories on why it happened and not sure anyone really knows the truth. Someone I know is convinced it was someone Boston knows but he won't admit it. So your guess is as good as anyone's but that was like a less than 2 minute walk before they put up the barriers in the median of the Strip.
