Not surprised that there were zero Veteran’s Day threads posted….

Anyway God Bess to all Vets here at EOG and to all those over the World who have served and to those who are still actively serving…most of us appreciate your unwavering protection of the US Constitution….
Our current transgender military is now the enemy of the people VD, they're going to get their ass handed to them in any future war. Every past veteran is being mocked today by this administration.

Did you hear that yesterday in Yemen our embassy was stormed and hostages were taken? I saw one little blurb, otherwise nothing, what's biden doing about that? Does pretending it didn't happen make it go away, does pretending inflation is good make it go away? Does pretending the border isn't being flooded with illegals make it go away?

Thanks for your service VD and all who did serve. Ignore these clowns who think protecting the Constitution means religiously watching Fox News and OAN.
My bad I thought he was posing a question maybe as to why their were no threads for Veterans Day( which I kindly explained to him) when all he wanted was a thank you for his service. He should've used a different thread title like 'Thank me for my service" or something. Dipshit.

"Thank you for your service" is just as annoying as "Not trying to be a jerk but...".

The new woke military does seem to be losing touch with much of its' support base.

"Thanks for your service" is trite.

I appreciate the men who were drafted into the military during wartime ahead of those who volunteered to serve in recent years.

The draft ended in 1973.

Of course, this opinion is coming from a man who, like ROCKFISH, was heading to the racetrack, not the battlefield.

Haha.

I was drafted just the other day in a game of five-on-five basketball at the Pullman Rec Center on the south side of Chicago.

Eight black guys and two white guys.

The other white guy was drafted with the ninth overall pick, one spot ahead of yours truly.

Naturally, the two old white guys guarded one another.

I thought I would outperform my draft slot but I was wrong.

I played terribly.

It happens.

One impressive player on the court was Jerome Hodges.

He played basketball for Texas Southern in the late 1970's.

His backcourt mate was Harry Kelly (no relation, haha).

Kelly's nickname was "Machine Gun" and he was drafted by the Hawks in the 1983 NBA Draft.

Were the other guys Chicago State players?

What should someone say to a vet?
I'm just guessing but I would think a vet would appreciate the words instead of not beings thanked at all.

I know what NOT to say.

"Happy Memorial Day" is a no-no.

Nothing happy about Memorial Day, a day to recognize all the American men and women lost in battle.

from a USA Today article :

Veterans Day differs from Memorial Day where the U.S. honors fallen soldiers. Raughter said you have more freedom to find the appropriate things to say.

"I think that the one thing that does rub most veterans absolutely the wrong way on Memorial Day is saying 'Happy Memorial Day'," he said. "It's not happy."

Raughter said thanking veterans for their service is enough, and if there is a veteran-owned business in your area, to go visit and patronize.

As a veteran myself, I understand most people are trying to be respectful,. However, let's be real here...it's become extremely trite (using JK's word choice) and none of us owe our lives to what the military has been doing around the globe during the past several decades.

Instead, say thanks to your parents, grandparents or maybe the person signing your paychecks.

I've always preferred Decoration Day, which also is what my Southern family members still use to honor the fallen.

Our K-12 education system needs some elements of military training, especially the chapter on discipline.

I am in favor of a two year military hitch for all those US citizens….mandatory service

can serve in the work force or on a military base….but I know it will never happen….

How do you feel about the latest democrat plan to draft women? IMO it's just another attempt to weaken the military.

He/she is offering health tips for our children?

Hold up on the Republicans to retake the House.

I'll be here all week.

Is there really a good reason why if you serve in the military, and complete your time, that you shouldn't get lifetime health insurance?

I mean if you are willing to serve and potentially give your life for the country, that if you make your time you are repaid with help for the rest of your life.

Would probably mean 10 less blackhawk helicopters are made each year. Estimated cost savings of $60M
