A legend at Temple University.
I loved the way his teams not only challenged every shot but challenged every pass.
John Chaney was 89.

Hey, JK. You cee? My post did not mention Big Runner and here he is looking for another fight. Once again he has killed another thread.
Remember when Chaney wanted to fight Calipari at a postgame press conference.
"I'll kill you" was the exact quote.
Temple v UMass was a fabulous rivalry game.
I think a lot of college basketball coaches wanted Chaney to get his hands on Calipari that night.

I watched a lot of Temple games with Mark Macon during that time. Macon was Mr Basketball in Michigan, it was a big deal that he went to Temple over the in-state schools.Sad he never got a team to the Final Four. That team in 88 was awesome, only loss until the tournament was by a point to UNLV at the T&M. I went to that game, what a great atmosphere and great finish both teams in the top 10. I think the score was 57-56 which just seemed hard to believe for the Runnin Rebels but Temple played defense like nothing else.
Does anyone know the story why Chaney wanted to kill Calipari? What set him off?
As I understand it, Calipari was at the podium after a one-point victory over Temple and Chaney was in the back of the room listening to Calipari's postgame comments.
After the narrow win, Calipari mentioned the three refs and their poor performances that night.
If memory serves, the two teams had contrasting styles: UMass wanted to get up and down, Temple was all about grabbing and holding on the defensive end.
The game finished in the 50's, a Temple kind-of-game.
Once Chaney heard Calipari criticize the officials AFTER A WIN, he exploded.
Too funny.
Not much has changed for John Calipari after his battles with Chaney.
Calipari tells his Kentucky recruits/players, "Our goal at UK is NOT to win a national championship but to get you to the NBA."
Different strokes for different folks.
"Our goal at UK is NOT to win a national championship but to get you to the NBA."
That's a SCAM Recruiting Pitch.
Calipari is Telling Them, That's is All About THEM.
But With Calipari , It's All About HIM !
Here is another example of the mentally ill monster attacking a poster unprovoked. Good job, JK.

Remember Chaney's Practice Schedule For The Players ?
5 AM Start in The Morning.
Before The Arithmetic and Basket Weaving Classes.
Not After.
Interesting there was Temple money today v. Tulane.
Hard to predict Owl's mood, McKie did play for Chaney.
Derek McKie
Good team with him and Eddie Jones.
