RoyalFan, He constantly lost outright as -300,-600 ml chalk in the tournament. Homer.
2019- Lost to Auburn as a fav and 2 of the 5 starters had the flu
2018- Lost to A&M in the 2nd round as a fav and yeah that line was awful
2016- Lost in the natty on a buzzer beater as a fav. Crushing but most fans would take playing in the natty
2015- Lost to Wisconsin as +6.5 dog
2014- Lost to Iowa St as a +1.5 dog
2013- Lost to Kansas in their back yard as a +6.5 dog
2012- Lost to Kansas in their back yard as a +2.5 dog without their starting PG with a broken wrist
2011- Lost to Kentucky in the E8 as a +1 dog
2008- Lost to Kansas as a -3 fav. I guess this is the one where you collected huge
2003- At Kansas was like a 7.5 point fav in the Natty and his time missed an inexplicable amount of FT's (12-30) and still with a chance to win at the end despite that. Yeah real bad coaching.
2002- At Kansas lost as a 1.5 fav to Maryland who shipped the natty. Hardly -300 or -600
2001- At Kansas lost as a +1.5 dog to Illinois in the S16
2000- At Kansas lost as a +10 dog to dook in the 2nd round who who the natty
1999- At Kansas lost as a +6.5 dog to UK in the 2nd round
1998- At Kansas lost as a -12 fav to Rhody who rolled all the way to the E8 and was 40 seconds away from the F4 before a turnover and foul.
1997- At Kansas lost to Zona who shipped the natty and had 3 of his 5 starters injured. One had a broken wrist and scored the first basket and sat from there on out.

Hardly somebody leading to riches and constantly losing as a huge fav.

Second Round

Kansas was placed on 3 years probation when Roy took over and couldn't even play in the NCAA's in 1989. That was back when that stuff was serious and program killing. He immediately took them to the 91 national title game and 93 F4.

91- lost as a +3.5 dog to dook
93- lost as a +4 dog to UNC.

Seems like most of his tourney losses were as dogs, with hurt or sick teams, or lost to the eventual national champion. Wow you found 2 examples one of which was the first year off probation.

That Rhode Island team was damn good too!

Interesting since I just broke down the majority of his career at Kansas and UNC where he was either a dog in most of his losses, lost to the national champ anyways, or had hurt and sick teams. He went to 30 NCAA tourneys. Where's these 20 MM examples hiding at?
