Opened up and took over 11 million in wagers...that is three times more than the March 20th racing day...proves that the public is anxious to get back to live sporting events...continued success.....

I plan to review the replays of yesterday's Santa Anita races and watch the live action today.

Kudos to NBC and NBC Sports Network for teaming with TVG to allow the horse racing network to reach a wider audience in these trying times.

Studio racing is here.

I will not partake in the Opening Day card.

Instead, I'll wait until late Saturday night and then watch the replays with only mind bets.

I save time and money with that approach.

I simply book my plays.

:)

Thanks for sharing, BLUE.

Listening now.

Easy-listening voice.

Sometimes some annoying commentary.

Good luck, W2W.

Charlatan is the 9/5 second choice in Saturday's Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita.

Nashville is the 6/5 program favorite.

Post time is 3:51 p.m. PT.

11th I dont really think he was handing out the 8 it was more about betting against the program chalk and handing out a few horses to use instead of the chalk

Hmmm...

I thought he said #8 Counterparty Risk is the play.

As you mentioned, Vic said #2 Miss Extra is a major player, #4 On Mars could be a factor and #6 Last First Kiss is a live longshot.

He suggested using #2 and #4 and #8 in exactas and throwing in #6 in trifectas.

I'll listen again.

GP 1--his horse is the 2nd fastest going in....2nd fastest FR3 and drops
GP7---his horse ran a dominating number last out with a huge FR3
GP11--not the kind of race I bet but I would agree with him
SA 4--if I were going to bet the race the rail is where I would look
SA 11---the 2 ran in her USA debut like she needs lasix and the 4 has developed and ran fast last out

One more race to go, Vic said, and we have found another HORRIBLE favorite.

More important to find a horrible favorite than a horse to bet on, but we have BOTH in the 11th race at Santa Anita.

I guess many dont like him.....he loves the game and takes a stand

The strategy of identifying vulnerable favorites and then betting against them is obviously the right to go.

But, of course, it's not enough to simply say the 7/2 morning-line favorite is horrible.

After all, you're about a 1/5 favorite to be right.

I enjoy his enthusiasm

Vic has held a lot of different jobs at the racetrack.

His job of jockey's agent gave him an inside look at the game.

Vic Stauffer v Matt Carothers in the 11th race today at Santa Anita.

Carothers just made a case for #7 Nasty to win the race.

Vic had tossed that horse in his Thorograph analysis.

Good try by Starry Hope in today's opener at Gulfstream Park.

Finished a close third at odds of 18/1 and paid $10.00 to show.

Price horse for TVG's Matt Carothers in the eighth race today at Santa Anita is #10 Golden Principal at program odds of 12/1.

Carothers has been posting excellent results over the past month or so.

Nashville closed 6/5.

Charlatan closed 8/5.

The money poured in on Charlatan in the final minute of wagering.

He was 5/2 with a two minutes to post.

It is NOW post time for the 11th and final race at Santa Anita.

Excellent betting race with a lot of ways to go.

Great call by Matt Carothers at odds of 6/1.

A pace play against a sheets play and the pace play won by a head.

Exciting finish.

That 7 ruined everything for me. Had big doubles to 4/8/10 in the finale, and every horse BUT the 1 and 7 covered in smaller doubles and the p3 (charlatan singled). Just brutal. Lost two head bobs today that cost me a nice day and turned it into a -$75ish one....charlatan is a freak though

The handle on opening day at Santa Anita was over 23 million with no fans....two years ago the handle was just over 20 million on opening day with over 41,000 fans....speaks volumes about off track wagering....
