As he should....Pitt goes down.....

The Dolphins were a great team....I have seen better Steeler teams in the past....

NOT THAT ONE!

I think they only beat 2 teams with winning records all Reg Season. A team that accomplished something no one has done since - and might never do

But when ranking all-time top teams I can't put them #1 or Top 5 and struggle for Top 10

Spot-on, Winky.

The undefeated Dolphins were only a one-point favorite over the Redskins in Super Bowl VII.

Final score: Dolphins 14 Redskins 7.

Would you believe the over/under was only 33?

The year was 1973.

isn't that 14 games ? they were good the dolphins but hard to stay on top for a long time.

I have the box set of the Bears 85 season on DVD. The game is so different now compared to 1985. Wilbur Marshall was a freak athlete, now teams starting LB's are all like him. Gone are the run stuffers like Singletary.

FW don't you think the rules changed to help the offense? i don' t like it... bring back dorsett & payton

Almost Allright

GO Bucks!!!
73 team far better IMO. But undefeated is undefeated so the corks were popping. That ritual seems to say well this was cool when we started it but by now it’s old for everyone

Sure it did, that’s why you need LB’s that can cover receivers now. The days of Butkus, Singletary, and Zach Thomas are gone.

And ironically the '85 Bears' only loss was a Monday Nighter in Miami.

The most-watched game in Monday Night Football history.

Miami's strength (Marino) was Chicago's weakness (cornerbacks).

One other note: Did the Dolphins subconsciously lose to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game that season, thus avoiding a rematch with the Bears in the big game?

Hmmm...

Miami was a 5.5-point home favorite over New England and lost 31-14.

The Dolphins threw the game away with six turnovers.

At the time, the Patriots had lost 18 straight games in the Orange Bowl.

And, of course, everyone knows what happened in Super Bowl XX: 46-10, Bears.

In all sports - all towards less contact by the defense

NFL: Da Bears and teams of that era roughed up receivers all the time and got away with it. Now they would never be able to do all they did
NHL: It used to be unless you took your stick and wrapped it around a player's neck you never got a penalty in 3P or OT. The NJ Satans won multiple cups playing "Left Wing Lock" - a style that couldn't happen today
NBA: One of the great debates is how would the Warriors have done against Jordan's Bulls, Bird's Celtics, Magic's Lakers or the Bad Boy Pistons. Tell me what rules we are playing under? If the rules of the 80s where you could hand check all the time and play was physical the Warriors probably get swept. Now - not so sure. I was at the 1984 Lakers/Celtics Finals when McHale flattened Rambis. McHale JUST got an ordinary foul on the play, Now: He gets tossed and suspended for the rest of the series. If Jordan played today with no contact he might average 50+

So any debate about how teams 20-30+ years apart from each other would do if they played can't be judged unless we know what rules we are playing with.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Unreal the Dolphins in one year had three 1000 yard rushers, we'll never see that again.

Morris was a yard short, had 999, they reviewed film until they could find him a yard, LOL.

In the spirit of the Dolphins toasting when a team loses for the first time of the season, me and my buddies used to joke after the 2008 Lions 0-16 season, that somewhere HC Rod Marinelli and his OC, Jim Colletto were popping the bubbly whenever a winless team won their first game of the season to preserve their dubious record. Of course, that was short lived when the 2017 Browns were winless.

Um......the Bucs lost 26 in a row covering 2 seasons.

They already had a "perfect" season and almost a 2nd one.

Come on now, when it comes to complete incompetence let's not sell the Bucs short.

:p:p

John McVay was the coach of those horrible Buccs teams, a reporter once asked him about the execution of his offense, he responded "I'm all for it"

Detroit really got jobbed in the game at Minn. Refs stole that game for Minn.

LOL. Yeah, he had hundreds of those, if not thousands. Seems like every day he was coming up with a doozy.

Good memory!

PS - not sure if that's a typo or not but it's McKay, John McKay, not McVay.

His son of course went on to become our SB winning GM here in Tampa........

I was in a Survivor Pool that year and practically everyone had Minny. Not me. Had the Lions won the game - and as you stated they should have - my Survivor Pool would have ahd about 5 people left and I know many others were the same way
