Strange question: Could you catch COVID-19, if you tried?

Say you were on a suicide mission (I'm not), what are the odds you could catch the deadly virus?

Simply have an infected person pick their nose, then shove those contents up your own nose. Pretty good chance that will do it.

Its a good question JK. I have read a lot of articles about it from a purely scientific standpoint and the fact is this isn't easily transmitted except if you remain in close proximity to a person who is in transmission stage. One wrote if you followed distancing protocol but still went to the store twice and went to a gas station once you might cross paths with 75-100 people in a week. None would be right next to you, but they would be within the 2m safe zone. The rest would be outside your distancing zone. Often the people would be side by side as they passed which has a very low probability of transmission. They noted many of the people in the zone would be workers, which is why they installed shields and highly suggested workers wear masks.

Now they said if you were the transmitting person and didn't know it and didn't wear a mask, you would potentially be at risk of giving it to the others. However, if you don't sneeze or cough, or don't raise your voice (its almost the equivalent of spitting), then odds are you would give it to one person who isnt't wearing a mask (about 2% chance). If you wear a mask its under 1% chance. This is because the virus doesn't really "catch" onto you just from walking around or even standing, it tends to float around until it falls. To infect someone it has to get to the face and then into either the mouth, nose or eyes. Its really a lot harder than you think, especially if people wear masks and don't touch their face until after washing their hands. The punchline of the analysis was the majority of transmission would be either in households or in hospitals, not from being out in public. They suggested 4 weeks of lockdown should be sufficient because it would effectively be enough to spread it throughout infected households and then much of the transmission would die down.

The opening odds start here
Becomes more collectively exhaustive if and when symptoms and if pre-existing conditions are factored into the equation.

I have accepted the fact that I am probably going to get it at some point, so part of me just wants to get it now and get it over with

There has to be a better way of fighting Corona. At the very least test everybody in a hospital or nursing home. If negative do the antibody test.

Some results are 20-30% have immunity built up.

Instead of stimulus money we need tests for everybody. We probably have a 100 million people with immunity that are not working/self quarantined.

In theory, segregate those people - try to get the people that will not get sick to the front lines.

Hang out at a hospital lobby with a clipboard and a really cheap mask. Tell arriving patients your going to put them on a list for freebies.

TYVM Morgan William!!!
As a Cancer Survivor who is still somewhat susceptible - YES! I am sure I could

My older niece is a cop. A few weeks ago she came across a dead body. The body had the Virus. She tested negative but was still forced to stay home for a week and told to stay inside and not go out and about. This same niece drops her dog off at the house 3-4 days a week while she goes to work. She drops her off when no one is awake and when she picks her up she just opens the door and the dog comes running out but you can see how easy it is to get

We found out our next door neighbor had it and had to be quarantined for 2+ weeks

It is the same philosophy a hiker used On a hike in a national park with a friend. They heard a bear and the guy reaches into his backpack and gets his cross trainers out and throws his backpack and hiking boots away.

The other guy says, “what are you doing - you cannot outrun a bear”!

Hiker says, “I do not have to outrun the bear - just have to be faster than you”!

Well, yes to avoid the virus by staying home and then going into the population now would be a mistake. What an advantage to not have to work-not have to provide essential services. I understand what John is saying.

This is a really bad time to be poor and hungry.

Perhaps, there will be a baby boom worldwide??? Sex at night is up 900%?
