I've always thought it should be against the rules to penalize the home team for a fan's action.
There was a college basketball team back in the day that would be assessed a technical foul after its fans would throw things (streamers?) after the first points scored by the home team.
I can't remember all the details.
But I've always held this idea in the back of my head: Attend a Big West basketball game, bet the road underdog, dress in the home team colors with a prominent logo displayed on a hooded sweatshirt and baseball hat, then run on the court from behind the home team bench to stop a potential fast-break opportunity by the favored squad.
If they don't whistle the home team for a technical foul, I would at least stop potential points from being scored.
The later in the game, the better.
Of course, I would only run on the court if the pointspread outcome was in the balance.
Better yet, why not hire someone to do the dirty work?
I think $1,000 and legal fees would be the right offer to start negotiations.
The bet would have to be a minimum five figures.
