not to be confused with Randall Meier...dont know if related

a driving tip dont ever get behind Randall Meier on the expressway....45mph in the center lane......kind of ironic that he was known as a speed-rider

hes the one famous for it......heres one nobody knows Monty Meier at SPK

I like it, BLUE.

Jerry Bailey also loved to save ground on the inside path, especially in turf races.

But like Borel, Bailey's tendencies were well-publicized.

Monty Meier is a different story.

It's not what you know, it's what you know that nobody else knows.

Lol. Meier did love to send his horses. Never heard that about him on 53 or 290. I remember driving 85 on Rt 53 and cars were flying by me like Secretariat in the Belmont.

Meier did have one son who rode. I think it was Brandon Meier. Believe he even rode some at Santa Anita.

southbound 53/290.....just backing up the center lane

I've talked to some horse bettors who feel like they are riding a race when driving their car. Kind of odd to hear a speed crazy jock who rides like an old lady in his car.

I think Drivers Ed would be wise to show new drivers how jockeys properly "drop in"; i.e. when they go to merge, they shouldn't always be compelled to outrace the car they are merging toward. Many times its easiest to drop back, like a closer entering the first turn in a 2 turn race from an outside post.

I used to hang out at TI racebook during that era.....small book but I liked it in there
i was in the TI race book wednesday thru Sunday for two plus years playing mostly Chicago T-breds. Around 97 thru 99.
Jimmy was the Manager before he moved over to Bellagio when it opened. Ti daytime supervisors then were all women. Trudy was one and she became Manager when Jimmy left to go Bellagio. She still works in the sports book management at Wynn. Can't remember the other names.
Art worked at night was an old time Vegas guy who had been around a long time. he had many great stories about Vegas.

I was there when I was out in Vegas solo...friends didnt like hanging there as much as me.
I never got to know anyone who worked there.
Think you didnt even need a drink ticket to get a drink in the sportsbook

You are correct you didn't need drink tickets back then for either sports or horses.
