The current president of el salvador took over in june of 2019, so you can see the improvement each year, keep in mind he didn't round up all the gang members and criminals overnight - it took a few years.

He won reelection a couple months back with 85% of the vote - guess what - the US opposed him and actually tried to get rid of him, since the US is now the most corrupt country on earth.

They dont anymore in el salvador, i assume back before 2019 most of the police and military were paid off by the cartels, it takes time to put in your own guys and systemetically get rid of the bad.

only? what is it down this year, what was it down the previous yr, etc. looks like it's gone from 21 to under 2 since 2020(which would be the start of 2021 - 3 yrs 2 months.

i like the guy that interviewed vlad but he never spoke about the 16% rates in the podcast after like at the burger place or supermarket... that is why the food is cheap during the war....the bank rates are 16%

You dont really need that many because once you've cleaned up the streets crime will go way down, then you need a lower base level of law enforcement. And virtually all law enforcement is locally paid, each city and county funds it, not the state.

true but you have more rights here. They put low income people away who do crimes and the people who do the big stealing wall street gets away with it. They are the real reason people are poor.

I'm not saying that's the right way to do thing everywhere but el-salvador had a terrible and extreme situation, that guy solved it.
