I think it was Erwin Griswold (former US Solicitor General and Harvard Law School Dean a while back) who said derisively that an expert is just someone from out of town who wrote a book.

And I've seen plenty of them get chewed up on the stand.

Epidemiology in particular doesn't seem to be an exact science, lol.

Yup, how good is the flu vaccine, in a good year it's maybe 60% effective, in a bad year 10-15%?

If we lose our heads and cant live with a very mild pandemic, as this is, maybe 1% or less , that's a sad statement. Someday a real disease will come along that'll kill 10-20% of people, it is possible and does happen,imagine that?

This was a category 1 treated as cat 5. This virus was nothing. The Spanish flu people would wake up in morning fine, spit out blood at lunch and be dead by night fall. 500,000,000 dead. which was 20% of world population then. Chinese sent this flu out, and not on accident.

I think it was about 50 million dead, nowhere near 20%.

He also slants his comments to accentuate the negative, deaths go from almost 800 to low 6's, and he'll say 'deaths are level and way too high", then he'll say "we still have 2000 people a day entering the hospitals" when the chart clearly shows several days in a row of less than that.

They get in trouble when they stray from their area of expertise. Kind of like if Warren Buffet went on Dancing with the Stars.

Back in May, a St. Louis knee and shoulder surgeon embarrassed himself with his false pronouncements on various corona virus topics on a local St. Louis radio sports talk show. Unfortunaely, the hosts were too dimwitted and/or fawning to to have the audacity to question his statements because he is the "all knowing doctor" -- maybe of knee and shoulder surgery -- certainly not corona virus based topics.
