He's got some nerve standing on the sidelines watching his teammates after sitting out the bowl game.

Especially for a guy projected to go rounds 3-5.

Nothing sincere about this guy. Blame the agents for making these guys feel like movie stars šŸŽ„

Reality is a lot goes on beyond just the "I'm going to prepare for the draft" comments they publicly make as their reason for not playing. The player often has all but signed with an agent and goes to meet with his position coach and the head coach to discuss what he's going to do. The agent sometimes joins in these meetings. The coaches often are happy to accommodate them because they want to work in some kids for next year when its a minor bowl. The starter if he does play doesn't even really practice much, often he's just focused on the weight room anyways and doing basic drills, while next years starters are getting all the reps in practice. But what tends to happen with the kids who are not playing is they sign with the agent the day after they finish their last class and if they need money it gets wired to them and their families that day as a loan. The kid then files to withdraw from the school or at the very least withdraws from his scholarship and puts his classes on hold in most cases.

So a kid who hangs out with the team may not even technically be with the school any longer, but up to the coaches if they want to let them show up on the sideline. I talked about this with someone who is involved in recruiting at a smaller school that went through this last year as his school was in a bowl. He said you can't imagine all the lawyers, school admissions office employees and agents that suddenly are part of your life for a few days as it all gets settled.
