Viking Decision To Go For It 4th & Inches...

I think most gamblers know to go for it is the percentage play but weather has to be a factor here. You can go up 8 with a driving rainstorm & Wilson still has to convert a 2 point conversation.

I think it's at least 75% Seattle would've converted the 2 pointer. The only way the Vikings stopped Wilson was sacking him in the first half. From the 2.5? Russell is damn near unstoppable. If I was Carroll, I'd go for two every time.

Let's not forget, the Vikings had them in a 4th and 10 in their own territory.....and they complete a 40 yarder.

Metcalf isn't just a combine freak .....

This is just the Vikes being the Vikes. Need to turnover everyone. Not that it matters. Some orgs are doomed to find ways to lose and be losers forever. It is painful to watch

TYVM Morgan William!!!
The dumber decision took place earlier when they score to go up 4 and kick the PAT instead of going for 2 to go up 6.

I understand the machismo of going for it but you gotta kick the FG to go up 8 and then force Seattle to score a TD AND get the 2-pter

Just stupid move all around

I thought it was the right call. His mistakes were not going for 2 up 4, and not calling some of his time outs late during the Seattle drive to leave some time on the clock if/when they scored.

This 4th & 1 is a big decision for Zimmer.
Going for it is the better option, but it's only about a 2% difference.
If you go for it and get it, you win the game.
If you fail to convert it, Seattle has to go 90+ yards for a touchdown.
A field goal means Seattle can still tie.

Good to hear NBC's Cris Collinsworth cite the math of the decision in real-time.

He then showed his work -- or the work of the mathematician -- a bit later in the telecast.

My question: Does the math factor in Russell Wilson as the opposing quarterback?

The score, the weather, and the time dictates what you must do....I believe that the field goal would have been the correct call.....even up 8 late in the game you can’t lose in regulation....

Like Collingsworth said, with a full crowd they likely kick the FG. But with no crowd, or little crowds, the offense has the advantage. And like I said earlier, there is no QB I'd dread defending more in a 2 pt conversion than Russell.

They're better off losing anyways. They were never going to make the playoffs and now they will get a better draft pick.

I dont have a big problem with the call. You have to pick that yard up there. One yard man.

You have to factor in Wilson at QB and Vikings defense.

Lamar just might have something to say about that.

Much bigger mistake was not going for two when Minn scored a Td to go up 25-21 with 8 min left. They kicked the xp to go up 26-21. Now 2 fgs beat you, or just a Td without the xp beats you(some get missed). Then if made,a fg puts you up 9

My only beef is....on 4th and inches ..you sneak it

Running backs get stuffed way more often, then qbs on sneaks.

Qb sneaks are almost unsoppable

Going for it was the correct decision, you pick up a half yard you win the game, you kick the FG and Wilson is going right down the field to score and the game would have been tied anyway. As soon as the play unfolded you could see the back missed the hole, he stayed left, had he veered to the right he probably scores. I thought at the time going for it was the right call and still think it was the right call. And I like Michaels and Collinsworth, but not once did either of them mention the back missing the hole that would have ended the game

They did go for two and failed to convert.

Vikes gashed them all night. Easy call to go for it imo. Matteson is the goat for not scoring a td, good lord what a hole to run thru.

Kick the FG. Even if Sea scores the TD + 2, Minny may get the ball back with time to win w a FG.

It's a tough call.

I'd lean to kicking & that would be the long standing, historical, old school call as well.

And what i instinctively feel is the better percentage choice.
