What I find Funny is People trying to blame the DOJ Nailing Carruthers and BoS on Shrink, The RX, Major Wager or any other Gambling Portal that advertised them....That is very Comical that you people have such a Hard on to see your name in Lights and "putting Shrink in his place" or "telling it like it is" that it is Hilarious.....
This incident has nothing to do with your opinion or anyone's opinion of their past transgressions of players Funds. And the Famous Incidents on the Forums...and it has all to do with the DOJ's hardon for Gary Kaplan and putting him under the Jail.... And the Fact that they were here only Because DC told Shrink that Kaplan had nothing to do with the company Makes the matter that much worse.....
When are you people going to learn....The day to day Operations of this Company had nothing to do with the DOJ doing what they did. This Case had been building for years and it finally Came down....

One of the main reasons to stay away from BOS is/was Kaplans involvement.
Shrink said he was '100% sure' that Kaplan was out of it totally. That was a lie. Even if he really didn't think Kaplan was still involved, which is unlikely, it's a lie. He wasn't 'reasonably certain' or 'almost certain' or '99% certain.'
He was 100% certain just like he was 100% that Betpanam had a $500k bond that would cover a stiff job.
The DOJ action is directly related to Kaplan. So shrink lied, people felt comfortable because Kaplan was '100%' out and they sent money, despite warnings all over the place and shrinks history of lying.
That's on the players, in a way, but while you're 'cramping with laughter', people are likely getting stiffed for large amounts of money based on shrinks recommendation and him lying about being '100% certain.'
i agree with these guys, the cramping with laughter comment probably in bad taste at this point

dirty - it is simple. BUT FOR BOS being on this page as an advertiser, people don't lose hundreds of thousands at BOS. period. it is irrelevant why or how BOS stiffed. what IS relevant is that they STIFFED.
oh, and one other thing, BOS has the option to pay. they are not. they are stiffing. just another reason why the DOJ issue is irrelevant. people never should have been steered to these stiffs. its a shame.

Guys you make Valid points.....Shrink, General, Myself and the Rest of the Mods and I am sure the rest of the Gambling world feel awful about what has happened....Noone is basking in Joy over this...It is a Tragedy and I hope everyone gets something back... It is looking bleaker by the Moment...
I have never made fun of that and never will..... But in all Fairness Bringing up past stuff about portal owners and Incinuating they Had something to do about it or Knew about this is comical....
Don't you think Ken or any one else would have warned players and took premptive action on thier behalf if they knew this was coming :+clueless Anyone that knows Shrink and General knows that they would have done that for the players. Feel bad for the players who were stiffed maybe all forums should take the BOS advertisement money they have in their bank accounts and give it back to the players to recoupe some of their money they were stiffed by BOS.
Again Jay Cohen called this a long time ago so hopefully many players had stayed away from BOS.

Sorry to say, but anyone who signed up because Shrink put up a BOS banner here just doesn't value money. Many people who post here and the Rx knew about this book's rep. All someone had to do was do a simple search at either site to see if their money was safe. It really sucks for those people because they may see pennies on the dollar.

You are 100% wrong. Have you read the indictment? This case IS about the day to day operations of the company. Not the stiff jobs we would like them to be looking into, but the day to day taking of bets on the telephone and on the internet.
BOS has been trying to spin ity like Kaplan was one of America's most wanted. He wasn't. He was a small to medium size bookmaker in New York in 93 and he got caught. That's it, that's where it ends. His involvement here only makes the rest of the indictment more colorful. They were not after Kaplan because of his '93 NY charge or his subsequent activities in FL. He had been in the US many times since then. If the case were out of NY or FL you might have a point. I'd guess 90%+ of anyone who was involved in his '93 case is long out of law enforcement.
Their only interest in Kaplan is because of BOS. The Eastern District of Missouri never heard of Gary Kaplan, but they did see the ads for BOS back in 2002 and 2003. They were the largest advertisers in the industry at that time. Adding Kaplan on to the heap certainly makes the charges more colorful.
