Arizona never led the whole game…both west coast number one seeds blown away…I’m sending Rail five bucks because I feel sorry for him…

Makes no sense, the West Coast Major Conferences had been doing so well vs. the other teams in the Dance...

Oh, no they weren't . They were 1-12 ATS.

Just off the top of my head. Bruins covered v. St.Mary, St. Mary smoked Indiana. There's two.

WCC not a major conference, but AAC is?

we have to put the 1-12 in context. if it's 12 losers where the average spread was Minus 10 and the favorite was not covering but was still winning the game straight up, well, that's a *better measure* of who the superior team is than ATS.

Someone please let Heim Donk know St. Marys plays in the WCC, so the UCLA/St Marys game obviously doesn't count

the three major West Coast Conferences have covered ONE GAME in this tournament

Pac 12 ZERO
M West ZERO
WCC ONE (Stmarys)

i never see pickup basketball in orange county anymore, it was highly popular in the 1980s when the pcaa was very good, go to the huntington beach pier on a sat afternoon and you can find 100 beach volleyplayers, most of them being current past or future d1 players

Soccer big in OC, especially girls.

Go to any school on the weekend, fields filled with tournaments.

BB courts, empty.

Black population on the decline big time in west coast, Compton no longer a black city. Hispanics and Asians have pushed them out, also no baptist stronghold in the west like Southeast which injures the nuclear family of blacks.

huntington beach school district has open enrollment, hence compton magic is now a destination for Fountain Valley hs who hired a compton magic coach

I don’t see pickup hoops anywhere anymore. I look at players like Ivey and he really needs another year. Problem is he’s projected top 3-5, so he’s gone. There is little cohesion on teams from year to year.

You used to be able to tell what major sport season it was by what equipment was laying in the yard. Those are days gone by.

I miss my neighborhood baseball games.

If we had 10 guys, we played five per side with "right field out."

Would have been great training for today's MLB game where everyone is a pull hitter.

And to think my Little League coach (Mr. Fasiang) changed my hitting stroke from a beautiful uppercut (think Kris Bryant) to a level swing.

Yeah I know what you mean since I played in the early 80’s. My high school field was small with the left field line 266 ft & right field line 270 ft. We were taught to hit the other way (oppo) & to hit ground balls! What a waste of a home field advantage. Think of it as Fenway Park for a high school.

I grew up in a very rural area. Other than little league practice a gathering of friends to play ball took effort and was a rarity. Years later it dawned on me why in high school we had great basketball teams and very little luck in baseball or football. Out of the three sports, basketball is the one that is easiest to improve upon individually. We had ball handlers and shooters.

growing up in the 80's and early 90's my buddies and I would play at Orchard Park and Heritage Park in Irvine. All of the marines from the Tustin helicopter base (LTA for Lighter Than Air) as well as the El Toro Marine base, would come out there in droves.

on many a Saturday, a few buddies of mine and myself (all about 6 to 6'1") would go out there but we did not "look like" ballers so we would not get picked up. on a fine Saturday afternoon around aged 18, i had enough. i told my friends we would pick up some "scrubs" and we would run the court all day and "teach them a lesson".

so from about 11 am to 5 pm we beat squad after squad after squad right in front of their women and children. whenever the game got tight, I asked my teammates to get me the ball and get the hell out of the way (i was a scorer, pippen slasher type, but not a great shooter).

at the end of that day, my buddies and i walked by their picnic benches, and i said "gentlemen, today you saw what a TEAM OF FIVE" can do against single ballers. oh, and "please make sure not to avoid picking us up on your team in the future because if you do you're gonna piss me off and we're going to embarrass you again". half those marines almost spit their sodas out of their mouths.

pick up basketball back in Irvine, CA in the 80's and 80's before the marine bases were closed, were some of the best times of our lives................
