Most Costa Ricans believe the streets in the United States are paved with gold.

And relatively speaking, they could be right.

Not a lot of disposable income for the average Costa Rican citizen.

Most are extremely poor but there is a growing middle class.

Like most Third World countries, the poor in Costa Rica far outnumber the middle class and rich.
