nobody absorbed more lifetime punishing injuries from wrestling stunts than Terry Funk, imo; wrestled Brett Hart pretty well sitting down the whole match, he was in so much pain.

took many dives from the ring, head first onto the concrete floor for years before there were safety mats placed.

amazing he made it to 79 ...

Former U.N. ambassador and New Mexico governor Bill Richardson died at the age of 75, the Richardson Center for Global Engagement said in a statement Saturday.

Over the past three decades, Richardson traveled the world negotiating and securing the release of American prisoners and hostages in Bangladesh, North Korea, Sudan, Colombia and Iraq. Last month he was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his work in saving Americans, most recently WNBA player Brittney Griner.

I never understood his popularity, average voice, average songs, as you said, he exemplified a lifestyle that people wanted to feel for a few hours.

Isn't he related to Warren?
An astute businessman, was worth north of $1 Billion.

Only in that they both have fat bank accounts.

The opening odds start here
He had a rare but catchy escapism type theme. In addition to Margaritaville, he had another similar type hit "Come Monday". His parrotheads were also favorite with the ever popular " Cheeseburger In Paradise". RIP

No - but many years ago Dan Patrick had on either Warren or Jimmy and they started talking about the other one and they were friends and Dan got the other one on to talk and had both on at the same time.

My Jimmy story:

I worked yellow jacket "security" for a few of his shows many years ago.
Enjoyable show with a crowd that was there to have a good time and not cause trouble.
One show I had to check ID for all buying a beer - which was stupid - because finding someone under 40 at one of his shows is nearly impossible.
I was near the front of the line.
When the night ended I had to drive home barefoot because my shoes and socks were soaked in beer. The BAC for the shoes/socks was closer to 1.00 than 0.00.
Never forgot that and that is my lasting memory of him.

Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell has died at age 56. Sang All Star, I'm a believer and Walking on the Sun

Like Buffet, it's amazing how their management team keeps this stuff quiet until the final moments. With Buffet
something was up because he cancelled a tour, but no further notice. Harwell, they released a statement yesterday
he's in a hospice with days to live.

Boucha was drafted in the second round, 16th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1971 NHL Entry Draft (he was also drafted first overall by the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the rival WHA but chose not to defect to the WHA). Boucha scored a goal in his first NHL game after the Olympics and was voted Detroit rookie of the year in his first full NHL season. The Red Wings sent him to the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for Danny Grant in 1974. Boucha was enjoying a solid year in his home state; on January 4, 1975, he was assaulted in a highly publicized stick incident by Dave Forbes of the Boston Bruins. The attack left Boucha with a cracked bone around his eye and blurred vision. Forbes was prosecuted for aggravated assault. His trial resulted in a hung jury.[3]

Boucha never really recovered from the injury. He attempted a comeback with the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the WHA in 1975–76 and then returned to the NHL as a free agent with the Kansas City Scouts in later 1975-76. In 1976 the franchise moved to Denver, Colorado and became the Colorado Rockies, from whom he retired from professional hockey after only nine games.

Before the NHL required players to wear a helmet, Boucha wore a headband.[4] His nickname was "the Chief".[5]
