2024 MLB in-season thread

I think Toronto has been overvalued in the marketplace since 2021, when they complied big offensive stats by playing the bulk of their games in two minor league parks; Dunedin and Buffalo.

The worst hitting team in all of baseball vs lefties over past month

Jose Abreu released by the Astros.
About time, confounding what's happened to him, the year before he signed with Houston he hit .304 for the White Sox, he had a down year last season but wasn't that bad, this year he's one of the worst hitters in the game

His listed age is 37, but with a number of Cuban and Dominican players, the ages may not be completely accurate. In any event, he apparently has hit that age wall, where his skills are rapidly eroding.

Something to keep in mind for his next start, Jesus Luzardo was taken out of today's game after throwing only 77 pitches, and the velo on his fastball was 3-5 MPH lower than what he normally throws, there weren't any mound visits, or any visits from the trainer, but there was no reason for him to be removed after only 77 pitches, he was pitching well, but he didn't have his best fastball, could mean something or nothing, just something to keep an eye on going forward, curious how he looks in his next start

Great info, thanks

Just listened to Skip Schumaker's post game presser, the first question asked was about Luzardo, he said he woke up this morning with some tightness in his back, gave him credit for toughing it out when he wasn't feeling his best, so it appears to be a one off and I'm sure he'll be his normal self his next outing

Aaron Judge got hit by a pitch in the hand and has been taken out of the game. This could be a very big thing or nothing.

Skubal one of those guys who has a pretty strong home/road dichotemy. Detroit certainly a pitcher's park, and that hasn't hurt. ERA a full 1.25 higher on the road.

as we approach July
under the radar Stevie Kwan is having quite a season
currently with not enough at bats - but on pace to in about 3 weeks
his batting average is over 390 ( would be first in MLB )
his On Base pct is over 450 ( would be first in MLB )
his OPS is well over 1.000 (would be 2nd in MLB behind Judge )
plus he is great fielder
his current salary is a measly 760,000 dollars a year

Phillies 3-6 in their last nine games….

A few observations…

Walker has to be removed from the rotation..
Merrifield has to be released…
When Realamuto comes back, Stubbs has to go

You never have enough arms…

the outfielders are weak to win a W.S.........everything else is there

This is a bizarre story. A 22 YO Toronto player suspended 80 games for taking a fertility drug? The guy claims he's been trying to knock up his g/f since 2020? I'm guessing this fertility drug is nothing more than a testosterone booster. And he figured he could game the system. After all, what 18 year old doesn't want to start a family with his g/f?

Was looking to fade Luzardo his next start, never got the chance, just placed on the 60 day IL with a fracture in his back

Harper and Schwarber with possible hamstring issues…things not going well for the Phillies right now…The all star break can’t come fast enough…

Roughly halfway through the season
in reviewing the first half
The Astros have 20 more Unders than overs
The braves 16 more unders than Overs
(first and second)
and in order
The orioles Brewers and Giants have the most overs

When is that pussy coming back, his 2 months is up on july 1st?
Looks like it's now late july, a full month late from the typical recovery time, i guarantee this will slip again with the comment that he's "close" as it slides into aug. Look for a return around sept 1 where he'll play well and we can start the "just wait till next year BS".
