Sean1, Not everyone lives in a place with pubic transportation. I live in a small town where public transportation is completely non-existent. To purchase anything outside of basic groceries or dollar store items you have to drive 20-30 minutes.
The closest town with a public transportation system is an hour and a half away. So while your theory may be larger for those in a big city, it is not applicable for everyone...
