Oddsmaker's error causes 53-point WNBA shift

Due to an oddsmaker's mistake, the over/under on the total points scored in the WNBA All-Star Game shifted from 248.5 at Circa Sports to 195.5 on Wednesday.

I assume the 2019 WNBA All-Star Game influenced Matt's decision.

Final score: 129-126, Team Wilson defeated Team Delle Donne.

Only one problem for Matt: Team USA was not involved in 2019.

I am sure you got a boat load of money on the under in the all star game JK. Only one problem. Did you get greedy and try to middle the total off by 50 points

She got her revenge less than a month later by scoring 26 points and garnering MVP honors.

The 248.5 opening number was up for a couple of hours at Circa before the first bet came in, and it was on the over from a respected account that pushed the total up to 252.5. Metcalf said he believed the bet on the over was designed to "dummy up" the market, a tactic used by professional bettors to mislead bookmakers about which way they're going to bet.
At that point, sportsbooks in the U.S. and internationally began posting over/under totals similar or identical to Circa's number. With more sportsbooks having the total on the board, bettors started to bet the under, and the line began to plummet.
"I've been monitoring this stuff since 2004, 2005," said Rex Beyers, risk manager for the SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas, "and, off the top of my head, I can't think of a bigger move. It's certainly in the top five."

I seen a CBB total about 5 years ago at the westgate one time on the screen move like bettors had tomorrows newspaper but not this much. It could of been then 20 pts. This one beats it easily.

Say what you will about the move but notice the first few line moves were UP! And it took 3 hours for the line to make the move it did so on first glance it did not appear to be a bad line and I know a BB Wednesday was OVER 248.5ish

Couldn't disagree more. It was the WNBA with low limits. Had this been the NBA, Circa might be a parking lot today. Whatever Circa lost as far as money they more than made up for it in publicity.

Anyone read Metcalf’s tweets about it? Very interesting:

Dude you are beyond help. That's literally the VERY reason the line dropped 50 some points.

So Circa admits to not knowing who is playing in the game and hanging a terrible line that was 50 points off and Jimmy knew exactly who was playing and took the over on that same line. Can not make this s*** up! 😂🤣
