And given the shady circumstances surrounding his departure, Nero’s downfall can now be seen as the final chapter in a Machiavellian and largely clandestine squabble between the athletic director and the decorated and now-former basketball coach, Mike Lonergan.
Lonergan was another of GW’s unexpected losses. He was fired amid a tidal wave of bad press in 2016, at a time the basketball program was riding highest.

Wrong. Not every program has 13 players leave in a 5 year span, and the ones who do leave often do so over a lack of playing time or other issues, they don't leave because of "bizarre and abusive behavior" from the coach.
