Just how effective has Sarah Palin?s intervention in the NY23 special election been? Douglas Hoffman, the Conservative Party candidate that got Palin?s endorsement, raised $116,000 in a single day, according to a source within the campaign. The source told me to refer back to Chris Cillizza?s coverage of the race at the Washington Post blog The Fix, which noted that Hoffman had raised $210,000 ? over the course of a week.

Stacy McCain confirmed this with another source in the campaign. He has a few updates as well on Democratic fundraising in the contest.

If nothing else, this confirms the power that Palin has with the conservative base. She can raise money hand over fist, even with some considerable negatives with other constituencies. If Hoffman winds up winning this election, Palin will become a very popular woman in the 2010 campaign, especially in Blue Dog Democrat districts where conservatives have grown appalled by the direction of a Democratic Congress. Even if he doesn?t, this has been an impressive demonstration of influence and power.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20091029/pl_politico/28873Ah get that money while you can Sarah before even the stupid ones figure it out.:+excited-
You go girl

heh...She's forced to whore herself out as her days in the American spotlight dwindle and the days in Alaska become shorter - thus making it more difficult for her to see Russia from her back porch

Her two person paid "staff" was bragging about six weeks ago about her having almost 2000 requests for public speaking gigs. But oddly enough, not one has yet panned out.

hehehehehehe

When Ron Paul was breaking fundraising records, the "joe c" stance was that it was nothing more than the Kook Fringe weighing in.

Now this guy pulls a hundred grand and suddenly, he's relevant to JoeC's world scene.

JUST SAY NO TO OSCAMA
It's Obama your momma.I find it very funny that he does not like the media asking the tough questions now. They should have done that on the campaign instead of coddling him.

Hoffman Backer Dana Rohrabacher Coddled Taliban

Palin's Pet Doug Hoffman Has Taliban Ties

By LAURA FLANDERS
October 29 2009
Excerpts from:
http://www.counterpunch.org/flanders10292009.html

Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has already received the backing of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and the anti-public-spending Club for Growth. On Monday[10/26/2009] he was endorsed by another beauty: Dana Rohrabacher, the senior Orange County (CA) Republican who began his career as a speechwriter for President Reagan. Said Rohrabacher ?We don?t need Tweedle-Dum or Tweedle-Dee, we need Hoffman. He?s not afraid to stand up and speak the truth.?

It's a great endorsement -- as far as Hoffman's opponents are concerned. As special assistant to Ronald Reagan, Rohrabacher played a key role in the late 1980s getting money and arms to Muslim extremists in Afghanistan. Throughout the 90s, he lobbied shamelessly for the repressive Taliban. A November/December 1996 article in Washington Report on Middle East Affairs said, "The potential rise of power of the Taliban does not alarm Rohrabacher" because the congressman believes the "Taliban could provide stability in an area where chaos was creating a real threat to the U.S." Nice. In April 2001, Rohrabacher met privately in Qatar with the Taliban's foreign minister, then seeking increased aid for his country.

Rohrabacher's railed against the evil Taliban since, but still. The man who once thought the Taliban were good for US interests now thinks Doug Hoffman will be good for his party. If the Hoffman's opponents can't make anything of that, they're not trying.

Having a former Taliban funder joining the rogue's gallery backing the Hoffman has got to make it easier for his opponents. If the Democrat, lawyer Bill Owens, ekes out a victory amid the Republican infighting he'll be the first Democrat to win that district in 140 years.

Thank God Sarah did not go to Virginia or New Jersey. It is bad enough she screwed this guy up.A Republican had held this seat since 1872 and she shows up and they lose it.Unreal!!!

Re: Iowa Republicans wince at Palin fee

Still waiting to hear about Sarah TQ booking one of those 1,700 "offers to speak" which she had stacked up on her kitchen counter just eight weeks ago.
