The opening odds start here
I don't get it myself. Steele second best ERA at 2.49, 16-3 (84%), second in fewest HR allowed to only Sonny Gray, walks less than 2 batters per 9. only 159K
Snell slightly better ERA at 2.43, 14-9 (61%), 217 K, for sure gets absolutely no run support.

how is snell a favorite?
Blake Snell of the San Diego Padres has put up a run that no one in baseball history ever has this season.

Nolan Ryan. Randy Johnson. Pedro Martinez.
None of them have ever accomplished what San Diego Padres' lefty Blake Snell has done this year.
Last 20 starts for the @Padres' Blake Snell:
1.31 ERA
12.54 K/9
He's the first pitcher in MLB history to have a sub-1.50 ERA with 12.50+ K/9 over a 20-start span in a single season.

He came close to doing that in 2018 as well.

2 bad innings for Steele tonight. Still would be a stretch to overlook his chances especially with the Cubs still very much in the race.

Every time I see Snell, I think about one of the worst decisions in World Series history.
Snell was pitching a fantastic game, only one hit, no walks, and no hard hit balls. Completely fooling the Dodgers hitters.
But their manager, who usually is good, pulled him after a second weak single.
Snell reacted with his famous “fucking A”.
The reliever came in and promptly got torched
I’m pulling for Snell for the Cy Young, in sympathy with that fantastic performance.
