horse racing fans dying off. people under 40 get discouraged when the favorites lose (which is about 70% of the time) no one wants to go and wait 30 minutes between races anymore. even though simulcasting eliminates this problem, difficult at track if you want to watch live racing to get into televised racing from other venues. also, the good horses don't stay around long enough anymore to attract a following. plus the expense to just go to the track is becoming prohibitive. bad food, bad element of people. stay at home tv racing and betting is the future, but....
