Exactly, every prediction has this pandemic waning greatly by june 1st, with very, very low levels by july 1st. Why wouldn't you play? And i mean with fans.No surprise here coming from a dildocrat.
training camp opens june 15th, a july 1st(or 4th) start, they should be able to play 80-90 games.
They’ve all ready agreed in principal only to play if fans can be in attendanceHalf a season at best, without fans.
Nah... cancel
You don't believe social distancing will still be in effect? Or fans feeling the least bit of complacency?Exactly, every prediction has this pandemic waning greatly by june 1st, with very, very low levels by july 1st. Why wouldn't you play? And i mean with fans.
That's not the best case, that's the median case.So if that is a best case scenario, there is zero margin for error. It's only a matter of time before they raise the white flag.
Why would it be? The pandemic will end, BUT the virus will never go away, are you suggesting that people live the rest of their lives in fear. Lots of talk of a vaccine, there's no guarantee of if or when it comes, or how effective it'll be. How effective are flu vaccines? Hundreds of million get it and yet the flu still runs rampant. You don't believe social distancing will still be in effect? Or fans feeling the least bit of complacency?
Not suggesting anything at all, but merely going by essence of caution , as this pandemic is not to be taken for granted. Of course you don't live life in fear but you can't just expect to return to normalcy without taking into consideration variations. Who knows what restrictions could be in place if and when baseball does resume when it comes to fans and destinations. Why would it be? Guess what, the bars, restaurants casino's, etc will reopen, and it wont be 6 months from now, it'll be 6-8-10 weeks from now in many places. Yes, things will return to normal, the stands will be full. Right now the predictions are that this will peak in april - that is very soon, 2-3 months later everything will be different. More power to you if you honestly feel that way. I think social distancing will still be practiced and I'll be a monkeys uncle if you believe stadiums, restaurants, casinos, bars, etc will be full, let alone to the extent of sellouts due to complacency. The experts think they have their finger put on the ideal time frame. Additionally, it will be interesting to see several months from now how the world will withstand this pandemic when round 2 returns, maybe not with the same magnitude. Pandemics may come and go, but it will take plenty of time before things return to normal, and just when you think society is, news flash; it's right back to rest it's ugly head in due time after the initial short-lived reprieve.Guess what, the bars, restaurants casino's, etc will reopen, and it wont be 6 months from now, it'll be 6-8-10 weeks from now in many places. Dont you get it, the virus is here to stay, it'll never go away, we are not doing all these things to get rid of the virus, we're managing the load on health care, once that has passed there is no need for the rest. Sure, people can and should still wash their hands, etc, that's a totally differnt subject.Merlin, it wont happen. All it takes is for somebody to post they got the virus at uncle joes cafe and that cafe is done.
NO, NO, NO, the virus did not pop the balloon, mass hysteria caused that, conscious choices by people that cant think logically. How will things return to normal with unemployment at its highest level since the Depression? There's all kinds of problems in the economy; bubbles everywhere bursting. The virus was just what popped the balloon.

The VA gov ordered things shut down till mid june - why? Is it because of expert predicitions of a peak(which will come there in late april), hospitals overwhelmed? No it's because he's incapable of logical thought. he just picked a number.

It's going to be very , very hard for these dumb politicians to ever relax, that's the problem. The pandemic, it's peak, and the end of harsh measures is a math issue, not an emotional one. Assuming things go somewhat as predicted, baseball should start around july 1.It's not the point. The entire world has changed in the past 6 weeks. If not one more person got the disease or died, the economy would still be in huge trouble. The virus is just the catalyst. It's just a matter of whether its a recession or depression.

I dont see why, look at it this way on peak day maybe april 20th 3000 people might die, may 20th maybe 800, by early june maybe 200 a day, by july 1st maybe 40 or less.I hope you’re correct. I’m a baseball junkie and this time of year I’m usually in paradise. I think July is a pie in the sky fantasy at the moment.

YES, when the pandemic is over that means you can return to a somewhat normal life. The virus is never going away, ever, no one says it will, you could cancel everything for 10 years and it would still be around. When would you start the season? Let's say you're right and by the beginning of July the levels are low, does that mean it's okay for 40,000 fans to sit together at a stadium? If levels are low and baseball starts playing, it won't take long before those low levels start to rise, then where are we? IMO, by the time it's completely safe to not social distance, there wouldn't be enough time to play a season, I hope I'm wrong and you're right, but I don't think so
At this point, I'm just hoping the NFL can start on time. That is no lock. And have to believe college football even more likely to be delayed.
MLB can do seat staggering, so play to 25k or so fans and maintain SD.
Which event will happen first?
A regular season MLB game or the Coney Island Hot Dog eating contest?

I cannot see large crowds in 2020 for anything.. but how will owners pay their bills?
