Can you believe it? Nancy Pelosi wants to stick around.
The down-and-out-going House speaker said yesterday she's going to run to stay on as minority leader.
"Driven by the urgency of protecting health-care reform, Wall Street reform and Social Security and Medicare, I have decided to run," she announced.
Some Democratic colleagues weren't thrilled by the news.
"You know, sometimes in this business it's difficult to know when to move on," said New Jersey Rep. Albio Sires -- adding: "We don't need the target."
Pre-election polls showed that 62 percent of voters wanted Capitol Hill incumbents voted out of office -- and 60 percent essentially hung the blame on her.

The result: Tuesday's bloodbath.
But with a caucus that has now shifted well to the left -- after more than half of the moderate Blue Dog Democrats lost -- Pelosi stands a reasonably good chance of being re-elected leader.
Which means that Nancy Pelosi is probably as ideologically appropriate a leader as House Democrats can find.
To which we can only echo the sentiments of National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain:
"We welcome her decision to run, based on her proven ability to create jobs for Republican lawmakers."
