A man with a dream of grandeur, Bill Frist, along with an entirely complacent US Congress is to blame for this atomization. :hung $$,$$$,$$$

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

For now, I appreciate all of the well wishes very much. Welcome the new mods and congratulate them, while promising to continue in the transition as long as necessary. I'll continue to read from the posters about this separation of ownership (Yes, I am a minority owner) and then I will try and speak more on things (plans), but I assure you there is no hate nor ill wishes on anyone in my life currently. I'll be around. Again, I really appreciate the well wishes.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Congrats to the new mods:cheers

Dirty has to be the best moderator ever in forum history he really put alot of work in to this place. And there is not a nicer guy then the general.

Hopefully another forum has made a great offer to them they could not refuse they would be major additions to any forum and make that forum major league.

But best of luck to both of them in whatever their future's hold.:cheers

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Had the pleasure to meet them both at the Bash in Vegas 2 years ago, see them again in the Bahamas, and work with them for some time. Two great guys.
Absolutely, it was a pleasure meeting them, two big guys with cool demeanors. The General is laid-back, has a dry sense of humor and Dirty is an upbeat funny guy, both fun to be around. Best Wishes to you both.

It's good to read your well spoken response, The General.

Now, dirty..

The General cracked me up talking about dog racing (his dog fell off the track, literally). He is reserved, but has a great dry sense of humor when he opens up.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Good Luck to both General and Dirty. It's kind of awkward for a General to report to a Shrink but I guess this in not the military.

I would like to thank the General for helping me when I got stiffed in the past from a bookie. His spinning of the wheels made the bookie pay me and I am very greatful.

Hope you guys stick around and post. Good luck also to the new mods.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

As crazy an idea as it may be, I've always thought by posting here it would serve as some "insurance" against any potential slow-paying book I might encounter. That is, one some level, I trusted THE SHRINK and The General to be able to to have influence on my behalf.

But in all honesty, no offense to the new mods, I've zero faith any of them have any experience or, especially, the reputation and history, of resolving disputes for players.

And I now question THE SHRINK's reputation.

This is sportsbetting in the US 2008..

Players beware.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Hey Guys... I just got home and skimmed through the posts... I am very humbled by the kind words. Had to take my son to the Dr in Atlanta today and just now trying to catch up. They go to bed at 9:30 and after that I will have a better response...

All I ask is lets not turn this thread into a pissing match or about Jman or anyone else. It is about Us resigning from a Place we love and poured many hours into. I have made many good friends here and lets leave it at that for now.

Dirty, what are your intentions for the future regarding online sportsbetting forums?

Just got home and was hoping this was one of Shrinks normal pranks though I see now that it is not the case. You guys were tough not to like/appreciate and will be missed by many including myself. Gl to you both.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Wow big shake up........it feels like I"m the last to know. As long as they both are still here posting they are still part of this family.

There's starting to be a trend with General.........everytime he makes over 50000 posts he leaves his post for something else.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Pete you have my EMAIL give me a shout. General once as a mod at RX saved over 15k for me when a book pulled out and left the scene and I needed a book to offer a bailout. He worked his contacts found one for me, negocaited the terms, worked it out and it was perfect. He is that good. Man I really feel a loss if he is not a forum mod anymore. Just 2 days ago I posted that I go wherever The General goes in shrinks Thread! O man this is stunning. If I can help ya in any way let me know.

And then there is Dirty....man Dirty what is up? No more contests with ya! Seems like things for you settled down a bit, i know things were not great for ya last Fall but you were going strong again? Man this is really a bad duo duo duo blow. Send me an email Dirty if you need anything.

man this is crappy news to come home to tonight

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Whoop-te-doo!

There are innumerable better forums to talk about any sport, or all sports,..

So cross all sports off the list as what makes this place worthwhile..

trytrytry: your description of shady offshore book practices is exactly what I've been talking about in this thread.

Do you think any of the new mods would be able to get you paid in a similar situation?

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Regarding sportsbook dispute... Lets be honest guys, when EOG/Ken *did* go to bat for someone, you had half the damn forum saying "the only reason you are doing this is to keep a certain image up".

While I love Dirty and General to death, any "insurance" you had in disputes arose not from a certain mod talking on the phone to a certain book, but the power of publicity (good or bad) that this forum wielded.

You think Microsoft is able to strong-arm developers because Bill Gates is just a real sweet guy to talk to on the phone?

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

General Pyle and I have a long history of arguing on these forums, but I'd still say he is one of the top mods in history. Sorry to see ya go, General Pete. Dirty seems like a good guy as well and I've seen nothing but good from him. I've always been critical of the mods at these forums but I have a feeling that this place will go down-hill with the loss of these 2.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

This is certainly surprising news! I wish Dirty and The General the best in whatever they have decided to pursue. Hopefully, the new mods will be as good...

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Dirty, General and I have all met and enjoyed eachother's company. We're on the same page as far as how to be solid members of the posting community.

I find it very refreshing that no drama of any kind precluded this change. Dirty and General remain solid citizens and I for one wish them the best in their endeavours.

As for me, I can only aspire to meet the standars our old friend Glaken established when this forum was founded.

guys will be missed!

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

It seems, for US players in 2008, if a player has a slow-play, the player should "threaten" the book with "outing" the book via online forums (not any particular forum, but TheRx, EOG, MW, etc). The "threat" alone should alert the book in question that the player is not their average shmuck?

The new mods have less than zero chance of helping in a difficult situation where connections are needed and relationships...There are few like The General...

The General, I trust..

Dirty, too.

But new mods at EOG, not at all -- in fact, I can't think a good thing to say of any of them.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

General and I are talking about buying a dirt farm in central Indiana. We think we are going to raise goats and in the barn maybe a floor model t.v. repair shop. General has been taking on line classes for the repairs and will graduate soon.

I think the dirt farm will prosper, if not maybe we will win the lottery.

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Moved some of the off-topic recycled crap to the Dump. Feel free to throw bombs down there or in a different thread

But, this thread is about Dirty and General and what they have meant to EOG

This thread isn't about journeyman, me, stiffs, ghosts or anything else

Thank you

Re: The General & Dirty Are Resigning At The End Of May...

Sorry to hear this news. Dirty and General have been extremely helpful with whatever I needed in the time I've been here. I still remember Dirty having to explain in excruciating detail to me how to put up an avatar. He was generous with his time and I never forgot it. Also, was a top-rate contest guy. Good luck to both of you guys in whatever you pursue in the future, and thanks for all the assistance you offered me. You will be missed.
