VSIN Part II

"As noted by Casino.org, consulting and research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming (EKG) is reporting that DraftKings is on the verge of divesting VSiN. The company’s original founder, Brent Musburger, is the most likely buyer."

The article didn't mention South Point...are they still using the original studio?

Seem to remember..maybe a few months ago..one of the shows talked about all of the equipment etc being removed from South Point

Yeah, they cut off South Point who now uses the studio for their own YouTube shows (Race Day Las Vegas, a Chris Andrews show, and some comedian guy).

i sure hope somebody picks up VSIN. It was a great show before the woke took over.

Yep, they went a little ESPNish with general sports talk, but I get it, a sports betting audience is very limited.

Someone at legalsportsreport.com summed it up beautifully explaining the move by draftkings to divest.

“The return on investment of media deals for sports betting companies continues to prove hard to quantify.”

And the following axiom from business school also applies here.
If you can’t measure your business you can’t manage your business.

Musburger family is a buy back possibility.
I would add that Derek Stevens might want to pick it up too ...with our own John Kelly hired as CEO.
Dare to dream.

How are the paying subs since dk took over

In terms of JK, he will never return to the mic and a regular schedule again. He is a man of mystery. A man the ladies view as a prize given the size of his roll when in Costa Rica. The ability to fly to Chicago, Vegas, and other places without being tied down is something he isn't giving up.

Yes I agree neveragain. I would enjoy listening to a show when John controlling the airways with guests.

But that's us being selfish for a return to the good Ole days

Their plan after buying VSIN was strange. Vegas info service promoting books not available to Vegas residents yet alot of the banter was Vegas centric. Knights, Aces, UNLV football, a lot of West coast analysis. It seemed disjointed to me.

I agree.
Using a book for lines that doesn't operate in the state you broadcast from doesn't make sense

Yes draftkings is nation wide. Use a widely available number

Nope

Lots of dk lines that people couldn't access.

Does circa come in for a sponsorship?

Draftkings will never operate in nevada

but DK's headquarters is it not in las vegas or at least a satellite

i noticed at the same time don best lost draftkings feed...at least for bases...anybody know something ?

Yes DK has a headquarters in las vegas

There is a better chance of winkyduck being featured in a 3 way on pornhub than there is with DK getting a license to operate in Nevada.

They burned that bridge to complete ashes a long time ago.

Fingers crossed on maybe fanduel

Would Circa buy VSIN?

DK wanted exclusivity but has not been able to put pom poms on their on air talent.

The on air talent doesn't seem to be sold on selling DK to their audience.

We saw TVG move out older talent for younger talent. They can influence them more to be brand cheerleaders.

I guest DK doesn't have the ability that Fan Duel has shown in media to fire veteran talent for younger talent that they can mold to be brand cheerleaders.

My guess.

The guys that started with VSIN and still there like Paul, Mitch, Matt and Gil should be in the 70k to 80k a year range.

Lombardi who knows? 120K?

Stormy is low end 60K a year. The rest of their M-F live talent 45-55K a year.

Behind the scene producers 25 to 35K a year.

Weekend talent is on hourly wage.

VSIN needs massive layoffs to bring in younger talent that can be influenced to better market the brand.

I hate to say this because I think they are trying to give out good information but what is missing is getting business for their sponsors and DK.

Paul and Mitch failed in Las Vegas radio because they couldn't draw money for the station. Here we are again talking about Mitch and Paul acting like big shots and not drawing money.

Mitch was buried at 10AM Las Vegas radio and Paul was on paid radio time and doing videos for SBR and Wagertalk.

Matt paid for his radio time and worked with Dave Cokin paying him $35 an hour.

These guys were not successful in radio and somehow landed at VSIN where money is burning under their watch.

Gil was not successful in radio in the Bay Area.

It needs to reach a younger demographic that are new to the game and gullible to marketing.

Sports Grid talent has personality but lacks the knowledge base of VSIN hosts.

But personalty sells.

Sports Grid buys only to get their TV and Radio markets would be a possibility if DK fire sales it.

LOL this board has NO CLUE ..... numbers WAY WAY OFF
Based on Steve's response I'd say the numbers from above can be double or tripled

I would say youmans is in the 250k range

Mitch and Pauly. 200k

Other sports betting radio guys like Scott Ferrell are what they need. All the vsin talkers try to be the smartest guys in the room all the time which isn't relatable for the common bettor.

It's as if they cater their shows to the sharps yet the audience wants sgp and long shots

Ferrell and nick Kostas are good listens because they have an opinion and aren't shy about saying what's on their mind

On the circles off podcast this week rob pizzola threw a number out there about how much vsin is buying through a year that I didn't believe

He said 100m

No fkn way

VSIN needs JK in the lineup. Youmans , paulie & mitch

KW and the bookmaker managers. I would put fezzik in there as well.

cameo appearances of the top bettors in vegas

I would say yes to having fezzik only if he was with a host that would push back on some of his theories/strategies

Almost like the way rj bell does but in a less douchebag type of way.

Steve and Gil would be good to listen to.

Steve has to be teamed up with someone that actually bets so he just doesn't railroad the host the way he does on sharp money (which is the absolute dumbest name of a show with those two bozos on it)

It’s officially been sold back to original owners.
Sold in 2021 for $70 million to Draftkings now sold back to VSIN founders Brian Musberger and Bill Adee.
Price not reported in story.

"“Media companies don’t necessarily make good betting companies,” EKG stated.

This is true.....look at Penn Entertainment, current owner of ESPNBet......CEO gives himself a 99 million dollar bonus,
they're struggling and have to lay-off half the force. How long do they have?

Old ownership was paying the bills by selling off shares. I have a friend that was offered a piece and that is how I was getting info about the company.

Don't think this works this time around.

VSIN is on borrowed time and lives as long as Brian is willing to pay the expenses out of his pocket.

This is the end of Fezzik being on VSIN.

Brent has a beef with RJ Bell and wont have anyone on from Pregame.

It had to do with RJ revealing the sexual harassment issues with Ron Flatter in his time with FOX.

Brent hired Flatter after he was fired from FOX over sexual harassment and RJ put Brent over the coals.

That's unfortunate if true. Fezzik for a hour would be gold similar to the one hour segment he had with Grossman's 'You Can Bet On It'... assuming he would even consider it.

Fezzik the media gambling personality is different from Fezzik the tout.

I don't believe it Rail...first off, he's not on that much, I know he does some digital stuff too. Secondly, he's not a indispensable talent... basically a time fillet. I figure what O'Royken quoted above
