Who besides nobody saw this coming?

Sports books sweep up the cash from bettors taking Phoenix on the money line.

It all looked so easy prior to tip-off.

Score after one quarter: Mavericks 27 Suns 17.

Halftime score: Mavericks 57 Suns 27.

Score after three quarters: Mavericks 92 Suns 50.

The hidden half between Q1 and Q3: Mavericks 65 Suns 33.

Up 42, Dallas is currently a 35.5-point favorite in live wagering.

Hmmm...

10.2 Aaron Holiday makes 26-foot three point jumper (JaVale McGee assists)123 - 87

4.2 Boban Marjanovic lost ball turnover (Aaron Holiday steals)123 - 87

1.0 Aaron Holiday makes 29-foot three pointer123 - 90

0.0 End of the 4th Quarter123 - 90

0.0 End of Game123 - 90

If you took Dallas -35.5 after three quarters, everything looked good after Dallas led by 39 (123-84) with less than 30 seconds remaining.

And then Aaron Holiday nailed a pair of three-pointers in the game's final 11 seconds.

Are they really better than PHO?

Golden State opened a 5-point home favorite over Dallas in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

Phoenix closed a 6.5-point home favorite tonight over Dallas in Game 7 of the Western Conference semis.

Phoenix -1.5 over Golden State on a neutral court, if you care to extrapolate.

One caveat to the above calculation: The dominating win by the Mavericks tonight was part of the Golden State -5 calculation, not the Phoenix -6.5 formula.

So one could argue Phoenix might have been only a one-point favorite over Golden State on a neutral court.

Also blew out all the 'under' bettors.

71 fourth quarter points....

So include Stephen a Smith with Charles Barkley as people to need to hear what they like before making a bet.

Their power of the mush is too strong to ignore.

Chris Paul GM7 record: 0-6

Depresses his ranking on the list of all-time great NBA point guards.

Chris Paul turned 37 earlier this month.

And as my friend David Dineen noted, Paul is a small guy.

Chris Paul is listed at 6-feet tall but I'll bet UNDER for the limit.

Two plusses for Paul: He's thick and he's still pretty quick.

He also has 17 seasons under his belt, knows every trick in the book and still gets the respect of the officials.

Looked up Chris Paul's height from the NBA Scouting Combine in 2005.

Paul measured 5-11 and 3/4s without shoes.

With and without shoes is a "thing" when measuring height?

Come on now.

I would think all official height measurements would take place in bare feet.

FWIW, the Mavs won the regular-season series, 3-1.

And one other note: The Warriors swept the season series (2-0) over the Heat, giving Golden State home-court advantage in the NBA Finals.

Both Golden State and Miami finished the season with a record of 53-29.

Dallas definitely looked like a team that's played 2 more playoff games than their opponent tonight....

they looked the same way in games one and two vs phoenix, and you know the rest of the story.

i am not saying i believe dallas will win this series, i am just saying it is far from over and they will get theirs in games 3 and 4 in dallas and i expect this to go 7.

Rarely does an NBA home team NO-SHOW in Game 7.

the only thing close to this i have ever seen in a high profile playoff game was game one lakers at celtics in 1985 on memorial day that year.

The Boston Massacre.

nothing in my mind comes close to this, at least that i can recall.

Doncic will get his...but I'm starting to see without Bullock or Finney-Smith or both huge from three ..they have no chance.

Dinwiddie and Brunson both have to step up also.

GS just too much firepower with Steph, Klay, Poole and Wiggins, and I have not even mentioned Draymond Green who is sneaky good offensively.

that said, the Dallas-Phx series started just like this one did and we know what the final result was on that one, so let's see what happens when they go to Dallas in Gms 3 and 4.

for now, I don't see Dallas winning game 2 in SF, but who knows.

and like Charles Barkley said, Luka Doncic is a baaaaaaddddddd maaaaannnnnnnnn

Draymond Green is sneaky-good offensively.

Good point, HOMIE.

Did I notice an added bounce to Draymond's step last night?

Like Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green's contributions are not fully appreciated unless you watch the games.

Green's presence on the Warriors is critical to the success of the Splash Brothers because he plays the "hockey enforcer role" in protecting his star teammates.

My all-time starting five of MSU products:

Magic Johnson (of course)

Draymond Green

Steve Smith

Luka makes James Harden look like All-NBA on defense. Total lack of effort, never effectively boxes out on defense.Big OR differential was primarily his fault.... he scores 40 gives up 35.
