Will there ever be a left-handed throwing catcher in MLB?

"Ever" is a long time.

With the de-emphasis of the stolen base in recent years, you would think the chances are greater than in years past.

No.
Simply because if a kid does catch in little league he is quickly moved to the mound, 1B, or the outside.

The same question applies to 3B, SS, and 2B (which we will never see a left handed glove at since it makes turning two almost impossible unless Bartolo colon running down the 1B line)

MLB's last left-handed throwing catcher appeared in a game in 1989.

His name: Benny Distefano.

His team: The Pittsburgh Pirates.

Interesting note: Everyone focuses on the lack of left-handed catchers behind the plate, but did you know not one left-handed player has fielded the shortstop position in the big leagues in more than 100 years.

Okay, too much trivia.

Time to focus on the betting board.

our team sponsor was George Arygros who also owned the Seattle Mariners at the time. 3rd baseman was Eric Van Doren from Vans skateboards and shoes.

another Bucco back in the 50's/60's caught a few frames as a lefty Catcher

more well known for setting and still holding/ (tied) for the record of Home Runs in 8 straight games

Dale Long also caught two games for the Cubs in the 1958 season.

He used a first-baseman's mitt, not a catcher's glove.
