So literally, to avoid elimination, Lawrence needs a 6 teamer against Stone, or a 5 teamer against Whitelaw (opposite picks on Dolphins/Packers game).

If really in the contest, Youmans @ 40-38-1 (40.5, 9) would need his pending pick (Wash +3.5) to avoid elimination. From what I see, he's close to a coin flipper, his picks are losing $ so far.

It's crazy that Fallica is winning this contest. If you listen to him speak you can tell he's not a sharp gambler. Some years he's good, some years he's terrible. It just so happens this year he's hitting almost every close game. Actually, Youmans although not super sharp is way better than the average gambler.

Youmans knows more about fast food than wagering. He was the UNLV basketball beat writer. I listen when he talks MWC basketball, that's about it. I don't get this outside the tournament picks with him and Palm. Agree or disagree with the contestants but keeping a running tab!? Silly.

Actually, from what I've heard over the years, Fallica's reasoning is better than Youmans', but what is "way better than the average gambler"?

Well, we know from 20 years of the large # of entries of the Hilton/Westgate SC and 4 years of the Circa Million NFL contests, the win% is roughly only 50.6% even with stale numbers. You could make the case that Youmans at maybe 52% is a lot better than the average. The average gambler is a pretty heavy loser.

Gonna be tough for anyone other than Fallica and Dog to win this. Whitelaw can forget it. If we give Fallica 5-5 that puts him at 54 meaning Tunes thru Edel have to win out since Fallica wins any tiebreaker with anyone else.

Lots more variance than just giving Fallica 5-5, though it's his to lose. Out of 16 weeks, he has 4 weeks of 2-3, he easily (but not likely) can go 4-6 or worse. Kezirian has a 1-4 and 5 2-3 weeks. It will be interesting if anyone is capable of employing game theory and make any predictions of Fallica's picks to enhance their chances. Pretty sure Youmans won't have much to say about the subject.

Week 17 has only 15 NFL and 8 NCAAF games. Week 18 will only have 16 NFL and a couple of NCAAF, should hurt Stone and McKay, should help Salinas.

Obviously, Whitelaw with 7 guys well ahead of him has almost no chance to even get in the money, but it's still possible.
