Cobbie asking some pointed questions. Didn't see that disallowed so I think he is on firm footing.

Can we get a weekly update of posters on the bubble who are playing their way out at EOG?

Maybe a "last 4 in" at the current time.

Need a poster like Landers for this. He will have his "army of haters" lined up chomping at the bit. Can they follow the "C-O-C"?

So we are going to ban one controversial figure and then next day let another one in? I think they are trying to get rid of the circus mentality here. Let him in at TGF if you guys want his picks.

Re: EOG's Code of Conduct (Effective Immediately)

Personally, I don't have a big problem with a moderator censoring antagonistic speech on a discussion board.

The First Amendment restrains governments from censoring speech, not private actors such as the owners of a website.

To me, the more apt comparison is to someone having a party at their house. If someone comes to my party and rudely insults and tries to pick fights with my other guests, they're either going to have to stop that behavior or leave. And they of course won't be invited back to do the same thing again.

A full-time moderator arguably is the best way to keep things on track. From what I've seen here in the past, it looks like dysfunctional conduct is more or less tolerated for a period of time until management has had enough and then someone gets banned.

A full-time moderator would be able to overwrite offending posts with a clear statement of what posting rule was violated and a caution against continued similar posting. Inherently dysfunctional or non-germane posts in the betting forum could just be locked down at the outset with a similar admonition. Banning would be reserved for serial violators who just become too much of a PITA for the moderator after repeated warnings.

Under such a approach, the remedy for being attacked is to report the post to the moderator, not to fire back in kind before the moderator gets to it.

Perhaps some are right that a nondysfunctional forum discussing sports betting won't work.

But I've watched so many posting boards of one sort or another brought down by flame wars over the years that I tend to kind of doubt that. I've seen far more boards "flame out" from dysfunction than nondysfunctional boards with significant content go down.

"At least, that's the way I feel about it," to quote another line from Casino.

And speaking of distrust, how about letting the posting body know who owns this place? It's hard to trust a website when no one knows who is paying the bills. Lots of scammers in the offshore world, how do we know EOG isn't owned by one of them?

No answer to this fundamental question?

No answer to this fundamental question?

I'll address the question in a new post. But help me with a couple of questions of my own.

Do you know the owners of the other forums in this industry?

Also, as it applies here, what difference does it make if the site is owned by devil worshipers? Although it's pretty evident that if it that were the case, we would have left everything just as is. We are not selling you anything, nor are we asking you to trust us to send you're hard earned dollars to a particular place, in order to scam you. However, you would be correct in accusing us of wasting your time in asking you to come here to read something worthwhile and instead delivering mostly drivel.

We hope to change that.

I do not know any other forum owners.

If this forum was owned by devil worshippers, I would not visit here. I had not think about this before, but if that is posiblle, then I would like to know.

Actually EOG is the only sports gambling forum, that I post at, that I don't know the owners.

Forums that I post at:

RoughingThePunter.com, I know owners Jon Spevak (JonInOakland) and Jan Suchanek (Perpetual Czech).
Sportsmemo.com, owners Tim Trushel & Erin Rynning, et al, that took over the ownership from Tim.
LVASports.com, owner Anthony Curtis (a pseudonym) and chief contributor, Frank Betti.
ViewFromVegas.com, owner Dave Tuley.

Also, as it applies here, what difference does it make if the site is owned by devil worshipers?

Given the history of this site with scamming moderators like BallWonder and Tuckman, and the socialpath radio co-host David Glisan, it would be nice to know you don't actively promote employee scammers.

Yes, I certainly do know who owns the other forums in this industry, from SBR, theRx, Peeps, TGF, and Pregame and so on. Only EOG is hiding something.

The question is why?

"1": What is the "beat-a-dead-horse" C-O-C regulation? Meaning: if a poster has his image posted repeatedly without consent? And. If this practice has been repeated throughout threads? What is the ruling on the picture-posting-posters? I say: ban them :lightbulb:

Were you ever part of SBR or RX?

The whole unknown, unnamed No. 1 bit keeps giving me flashbacks to The Prisoner:

Not meant as a commentary or anything, it's just where my mind goes to first when I see the alias, shrouded as it is in mystery.

No, in the past, I've read Ganchrow at SBR, tracked Bucsfan67 in MLB at the Rx and made some posts there over the years.

Also, (how could I forget) I post at Pregame.com, I've spoken with owner RJ Bell (Randall Busack).

Re: EOG's Code of Conduct (Effective Immediately)

1,

Can you explain why Cristiano is allowed to post? He is the same account of user 'Ronaldo', which you recommended take a 90 day timeout? User 'Cristiano' made that account hours after that ban. Not hard to figure this one out.

And full disclosure, I am posting on an account due to being banned by a poor mod of EOG past 'Kingrevolver,' who banned me simply for calling him out on some shady behavior around here. I'd love to get my other account unbanned, but just so you know, none of these policies are going to work if people you decide to ban under the new policy can simply make a ghost account 30 minutes after and keep posting.

I'd recommend new ghosts not be tolerated. Starting with Cristiano. He was banned under the new policy, and should serve out his timeout or not be welcome here, like Meaty.

Dude, you've been banned MULTIPLE times by Kelly. You'd love to get your other 'account' unbanned? You're on your 54th name here.

Good luck to the Cubbies this year.

Thanks bud! Should be a fun year, great shot at a repeat. Good luck to your Mets. Might be another 1 and done or no wild card season, but baseball is beautiful even in the thin years! :highfive

Agree. Banning an account and then allowing that account to come back as a ghost is just like a dog chasing it's tail. Foolish policy.

And again, we have a new policy in place, that policy came into place with a temporary ban for Ronaldo to learn from his past transgressions and come back a better poster. He chose to circumvent the ban in 30 minutes and has been trying to instigate trolling efforts ever since.

Just sends a message the new policy is not really anything if the first person impacted by the new policy just circumvents the punishment.

It's obvious the powers to be believe that banning the handle, bans the nonsense, knuckleheads, goofballs and any other entity that may want to take a run at the handle. So be it, it maybe transparent, but it's a joke by not banning the "real person" behind the handle; and that should be first and foremost.

Often times, people create new accounts and don't reveal who they are. I don't expect management or John to be forensically evaluating someone's posting style.

But if Ronaldo is going to be banned, and then he's going to create the name Cristiano minutes later, they're just signaling this code of conduct isn't legitimate by not banning that immediately.

Ronaldo could have created another account and snuck in I'm sure. But he spent months trolling on Ronaldo... he doesn't want to change accounts and lose his trolling image he is so very proud of. Very sad character. This forum would be significantly better off without him.

This is funny. Poster has been banned and came back with new names more times than anyone not named Henry Hill and he is "recommending" ghosts not be tolerated. Nothing against you Kerry this was just good for a laugh.

To be fair, I was originally banned on this forum because I called a poster Erik, a poster that he let everyone call Erik for 6 years. Kingrevolver decided I needed a permanent ban for that, and then ran off to join a rival forum a few days later. LMAO.

Never was I arguing anyone who has ever ghosted should go, but if they're laying down the law and cracking down, why would they let the first poster banned under the new rules circumvent the ban so blatantly?

From doing a quick forum search, it appears Last time Bumgarner was banned here it was for calling other posters filthy Jews.

But in the interest of full disclosure he'll only mention the one time he got banned, by a poster he now repeatedly calls a fat Mexican.

:LMAO:LMAO:LMAO

Never change, Bumgarner. Sorry about Cutler.

No one's arguing your point.

It's the fact its coming from you that just takes all the impact out of it.

How many handles have you had here again?

lol. It's wasn't King Revolver banning you once and if he hadn't you were a saint around here. You're a repeat offender.
