Shootout is the same thing as OT, bottom line is once the game ended 3-3 in regulation, his bet was lost. Just like in baseball If you have Under 8.5 in a game and the score is 4-4 after 9 innings, the bet is lost

initially the 1st 3 or 4 yrs of this it was a push, ihl did it and nhl didnt do it, the imperail palace booked the local vegas team and would grade this a push. Imperail Palace bookmaker in 1991 was Jay Kornegay

Could be he lifted that pick from Wagertalk, or Brian Blessing or MintyBets or anyone of that ilk.

You can bet hockey regulation time only, but the totals are obviously different, for example you can bet tonight's Fla/Bos game Under 5.5 -115, or you could bet the Under in regulation only Under 5 +115, if someone does that, they need to specify regulation only no OT. His last night's play is a loser

i do bet the sport, did i bet this game out of pocket? no. Do i know the rules? yes. No them better than anybody, hence the history lesson.

Yes and Partial No.

The NHL shootout is part of OT, applies to standard (i.e. non-regulation time) ML and total bets. Thus, a 3-3 game is a loser on the UNDER 6 unless the game, for some reason, is suspended.

Also in MLB, if the game is suspended after 9 innings at 4-4, depending on house rules on resumption, an UNDER 8.5 may be graded as a winner.
