Officials should be hired based on competence.

Period, the end.

Amanda Sauer officiated in tonight's Penn State-Ohio State game.

Her ultimate goal: the National Football League.

Who officiates the officials?

Where's the grading system?

The transparency.

I like what the NBA has done in recent years with its Two Minute Report.

Who would ever believe cronyism and nepotism play major roles within the hiring process for sports officiating?

With the push to add females to the football officiating ranks, optics and politics have been added to the other two stains within the hiring process.

It isn't surprising that John Kelly remains blurred from recognizing reality regarding this topic.

I almost never notice individual refs, but there were several instances where both QBs were waiting for Sauer to get back into position. Clearly was slowing the tempo of the game.

Amanda was terrible tonight, so was the female ref in sdsu game

I'm sure the under bettors loved the PI call with seconds left giving
SDST a freebie and over. The ball was 10 feet over the receivers head
in the end zone.

WW, what am I missing?

If the person is competent, I don't care about the sex or race or religion of the official.

Hire the best available officials from the pool of candidates interested in the position.

Ok this is the hiring process for all the leagues' officials.

Each is scored and hired without regards to sex, race, geographic location, lineage.

Tiara is no Violet Palmer, but not bad.

In 2007, the NFL formed the McNally Committee, named after the legendary Art McNally, an early advocate of bringing more black officials into the NFL.

The committee met with NFL executives. Black officials were working in the NFL but were marginalized. None were working championship games, or the Super Bowls, or, if they were working, the same black officials were chosen repeatedly. Ultimately, the group received a commitment from the NFL that 50% of new hires would be minorities. At the time, “minority” meant black officials.

agree the gov't pushes it. I saw a tv show from england.. they want everything the same when the robots come in. Nobody could say anything after the layoffs come in.. Equal with no bias

Of course.

There are biases, prejudices, etc. that influence hiring processes everywhere.

Will you agree nepotism among the controlling class dominated the officiating ranks for years?

Hire the best officials regardless of sex, race, religion, lineage, etc.

Are you saying not one woman is qualified to officiate an NFL game?

That she's not worthy of making the roster of some 120 NFL officials.

If that's the case, then so be it.

I count only two among the list of NFL officials right now.

Sarah Thomas and Maia Chaka

Sometimes the best man for the job is a woman.

And I'm not talking about a cashier or waitressing job.

Ed's kid is in the NFL. Cheffers has a kid coming along, so yea, nepotism is alive and well. Of course, just rebrand it as needed.

What you're missing is that none of the women being hired to these officiating jobs are the best available officials.

It's being done in the name of political correctness.

It's being done in the name of political correctness.

And Political Correctness is a Big Pile of Infected Swamp Horse Shit.

Always Was, and Always Will Be.
