Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

Re: Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

two firings since i have been here....which brings the question......if the people who own this gambling site really believe in it....the contests posters have been well over 60%, most of the guest picks on the radio show have held their own and the hockey picks by both esteemed handicappers have run well......if the ownership invested in their own gambling sites purpose everyone would have been given raises instead of a pink slip....

I promise we will be putting more money into our mission.

Ownership and management of Eye On Gaming are pleased with our direction.

Check out the nightly radio show, the Friday night contest worth $10,000, EOG's Grand Challenge for $1,000 highlighting members of our online community, the lively forum filled with fun and intelligent discussion, our monthly newsletter, the newest sponsor set to come aboard tomorrow, etc.

No time to read through all the posts here, but just like to remind Blondie:
When one door closes, another one opens.

Now come back as a non-staff contributor and get that post count up.

I've made money on various horse racing selections from Ray Luca, 2W2P2S, Discreet Cat, mazeltrick, Factorial, FK, etc.

No one does it better than EOG! JK and the crew do a first class job with keeping this thing going with the budget they are given to run it with!

Blondie it seems like you've been here from the beginning....

You took a lot of shit over the years, and gave more to the site than you ever took. Thank you for your time here.

Re: Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

I didnt ever hear anything about that....as long as they told her 6 months ago that her time is coming its funny they even gave her the 24 hour notice. And why would they spare her a month to make it past thanksgiving? You can buy a turkey and all the fixins for like 50 bucks:LMAO How nice of them.

Re: Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

Blondie wrote "Goodbye EOG" in the thread title and I responded "Bye Bye Blondie."

Now I'm classless?

There's never a good time for a firing.

As I understand it, Blondie was spared an extra month to survive the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Some EOG contributors are drawing erroneous conclusions from incomplete information.

Blondie knew about her tenuous employment situation for the better part of six months.

Well, it was bad. As the face of the site, you have the responsibility to develop a little tact.

And what is a "tenuous employment situation" at EOG? Is everyone walking on eggshells?

Re: Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

You have to understand that management is always the bad guy when someone is let go, John. I'm lucky I've only had to fire 2 or 3 people in 20+ years at the helm here. Most leave on their own, and I'm glad for that because it has been a rough experience each time, and trust me they deserved it by not showing up for work and/or stealing. In fact, my brother and I are still feuding over a 'too close to Christmas' firing that he executed a couple of years ago.

I'd bet that no one in the hierarchy of EOG was happy to give Blondie the pink slip. There's simply no easy way to do it, and no chance to explain it in a way that makes anyone feel any better. Just take your lumps and let people vent. Blondie is unquestionably good people, and the droves of posters that came to praise her prove her worth to the site. Someone sees it otherwise, and as the face of management you are going to have to take the brunt of the frustration. Just my .02.

We rarely let anyone go at my office...but it happens. I was given the task of letting this particular person go. I did not sleep the entire night before. He did not have a clue this was coming. The trouble was he was an under performer, and others were having to work harder as a result. Afterwards, I found out he thought the meeting was for him getting a raise. I was 33 years old (I made partner here young)....he was 50, with wife and kids, which made it that much more tougher...I had never been in a position such as that, but I had to do what I was assigned to do. It was one of the worst days of my life laying the news onto this individual. Our meeting was at 10:30am...after that, I had to take the rest of the day off.

That being said, I can sympathize with JK and crew for having to go through this. I'm sure it's not a good day at the office.

Bowler, you explained it much better than I did. Not something anyone feels good about, I'm sure.

I can't imagine (would like to think) that no one is happy about it. But, it's a business decision and as I have said before I wish all of them the best as they move forward. No animosity on my part overall, so no reason for anyone else to have any either the way I look at it.

Re: Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

Blondie i must say, you have handled this like a champ. Much more class than any of the previous mod fires. So far anyway!

Re: Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

Maybe im wrong about this day and age, but most people do not get advanced notice about being let go. How many times does your boss come up to you and go, oh btw you will be getting fired in 8 days from now?

I have no clue if Blondie ever discussed anything pertaining to losing her job previously or there was a possible chance it could happen, thats clearly none of my business. I'm just kinda bewildered how everyone is sweating the 24 hour notice, most people get fired on the spot and escorted off the premise if released from a job

Yeah, and those people can file for unemployment, and i dont think she has that option. Not positive though.

Re: Good Morning and Goodbye EOG

Yeah i thought since it was coming from costa rica or wherever the hell that might not be the case. Who knows.

she could file a claim if she reported her income under Obama law she could collect for 104 weeks and then file for a extension

No, she couldn't.

Employers pay unemployment insurance taxes, not individuals.

I'd bet all the money you guys could gather up that she won't be eligible to receive unemployment based on wages earned here at EOG.

I thought that was the case, but i dont have any first hand knowledge on it. Ill let you guys battle that one out.

Nothing to battle, I know I'm right. If that makes me a cocky son of a bitch, so be it.

I'd be more than willing to take the money of somebody that disagrees though. :thumbsup

not if this income was earned in another country. In other words the claim is invalid unless the employer was paying contributions into Unemployment insurance and I seriously doubt EOG does this
