What are you talking about? butler is paid $50+ million, and he's being paid to perform - THIS YEAR.
Now he's whining and dogging it because he wants more money next year - too F'n bad, he can talk about that with the next team that might want him.
He's being paid to give full effort, he's being paid to perform to his high level of ability, he's being paid to help the team - none of which he has been doing for awhile now.
This has nothing to do with Riley.

He told Jimmy to shut up and said he's not going to pay a part time player and even added that's the truth. I think kane will agree with me if he ever is able to post again. Who cares if Jimmy dogs it in the regular season. Same as Alan Iverson. He was always there in the playoffs except last year when he couldn't ball.

Butler is making 48M this year, he says he can't find any joy on the court, tough shit, he's getting paid a fuck ton of money, he needs to STFU and show up to work every day and play hard, he owes it to the guy signing his checks, he doesn't like it here, fine, there a lot of people who don't like their job, but guess what, they still show up every day and go to work, and this isn't on Riley, yeah he was bothered by Riley's offseason comment, but this is all due to the Heat not giving him an extension in the offseason, the Heat wanted to see what happened this year before committing 50M a year on a long term deal, they wanted him to play more games than he typically does, Butler should have shut up, stayed healthy, balled out, then after the season if he wanted to leave, so be it, he's acting like a baby, he didn't get his extension, so he's missing games with an "illness", then he comes back and seems disengaged, I watched both games he played since he came back and he played like someone who didn't give a shit, he's handled the situation the wrong way. and his agent owes Shams an apology, as do I, Butler and his agent denied all of Sham's reporting, going so far as to call it fake news and bullshit, well Shams was right all along, Butler and his agent lied

I agree Riley shouldn't have called him out the way he did, but when you say "who cares if Jimmy dogs it in the regular season", that's not the right thinking, first off, that isn't Heat Culture, the culture Riley has built here doesn't include dogging it during the regular season, and had Butler been healthy and didn't miss 20 plus games every year, they wouldn't have had to play in the play in game, they would have had a higher seed and made things easier for a playoff run, instead of the 8th seed, a healthy Butler would have given them maybe the 4th or 5th seed, which changes everything in the playoffs

I can agree with this, but it's not the reason he wants out, it all has to do with him not getting an offseason contract extension, he felt he's done enough during his time here to warrant a new contract, the Heat wanted to see how this year plays out, they wanted him to play more games, well, once again he's missed a bunch of games, I think the Heat did the right thing not extending him, Butler should have taken it as a challenge, and instead of acting like a big baby, he should have said to himself, okay, I'll show them I'm deserving of a new contract, I'll stay healthy and ball out, be a leader on and off the court and prove my worth, had he taken that route, the Heat would have had no problem giving him his new deal, but he didn't handle it that way, instead he chose to handle it the wrong way, so here we are

You can criticize Riley for some decisions he's made, that's fair, but not this time, not with Butler, Riley said he wanted him to play in more games, so far this year he's missed a bunch of games, earlier in this thread I posted how many games he's missed since signing here, it's way too many, and again this year, if the Clippers are fine paying a ton of money to Kawhai Leonard to miss half the season every year, that's their choice, Riley didn't want to give a long term deal to a guy who can't stay healthy, he wanted to see if that changed this year, it hasn't, sorry, but Riley isn't the bad guy here, the guy being paid 48M to show up to work every day, but hasn't, is clearly in the wrong

They'll try to move him during his seven game suspension, but they're not going to trade him just to trade him, the Heat will look for two things in a trade, a couple of young players plus picks, or veterans on expiring contracts, if they get the former, they'll try to package the young players and picks for a star next year, if they get the latter, they'll let those players walk after the season which will free up a lot of money to sign an impact player or two. One thing the Heat won't do is anything that hurts the team just to appease Butler, if no team makes an offer they like, they'll keep him the rest of the season, it will be fascinating to see if he does stay, they can either tell him to stay away from the team and pay him to stay home, they can keep him on the team but never play him, or they can keep him and play him, if he dogs it on the court, he'll only be embarrassing himself, and if they feel he's hurting the team with his lack of effort, they'll probably tell him to stay away, this situation is fluid and seems to change by the day

Imagine if these NBA players played baseball? Where some top/hall of fame players never win a championship, perhaps rarely make the playoffs.
Imagine a baseball player pouting most of the year like that, finally getting traded and it turns out the new team sucks too? it's stunning that the NBA tolerates that.
Butler is a very good player who's best years are prob behind him, combine declining skills with a bad attitude who only plays when he wants to play I cant imagine who would want him.
If butlers team does make the playoffs he's the kind of player that would pack it in then too, they go down 3-0 or 3-1 he'd still check out if he feels he wasn't used properly.
Miami should say they wont trade him and then put him on the floor again after his suspension, when he dogs it again they can suspend him the whole year, cost him 30-35 million.

There will plenty of teams interested in his services, he's a FA after the season, he needs to play well in he's going to get the big contract he's seeking
I disagree, when he's engaged, there are few players who play as hard as he does, also assuming he gets moved, he knows he'll be playing under a spotlight, I would expect him to ball out
This isn't something farfetched, now they can't just suspend him for no reason, the players union wouldn't stand for it and would contest any suspension deemed unwarranted, but if they don't find a deal they like, they can bring him back, and if he makes statements to the media negative toward the team or doesn't play hard and seems disengaged, they could keep suspending him for conduct detrimental to the team, I doubt he would do any of that since he doesn't get paid while suspended, he isn't dumb enough to keep causing problems which keeps getting him suspended which means he doesn't get paid

So lets see, Butler has been on miami for 6 yrs and they haven't won shit, but our working theory is if instead of $48 million we give him $56 million and kiss his ass, then we'll win.
