The finals have me twisted right now, after initially liking the Mavs, I'm starting to have second thoughts. If you take Boston's top 2 and Dallas's top 2, you can put them in whatever order you like, but after that, numbers 5-7 belong to Boston, Porzingis (assuming he's back and healthy), Holiday, and White are all ahead of guys like Washington, Lively, Jones Jr, and Gafford, hell Horford might even be ahead of any of them, no one is shutting down Luka or Irving, but the Celtics have some elite one on one defenders to throw at them to at least make them earn their points, a lot of people picking the Mavs, Celtics not getting much respect, I'm already down the Mavs so nothing I can do, but starting to think I'm on the wrong side

I've been hearing this narrative for the past several years, things are slow now until the finals start, guys need click bait attention grabbing headlines

Mavs are under rated, went into the playoffs on a 16-2 run (didn't count losing last 2 when irving and luka didn't play) Beat #1 but inexperienced okc and a hot minn team. Bos had easy ride, Miami(no butler) Clev(no mitchell last 2) Indiana(no haliburton last 2). I'll take Luka and Irving over tatum and Brown. Whose Jones,like holiday great defender,guards team best player. Lively and Gafford have been great defensively,Porzingis and Horford will be key if they can make 3's and drawing lively and gafford away from the basket.

Just looking at the efficiency numbers for the playoffs only, these teams are almost dead even, slight edge to BOS on defense,
slight edge to DAL on offense. If you're a numbers guy you almost have to take the price with Dallas.

It's going to be interesting especially since Doncic and Porzingis don't really like each other. How both teams will look especially after a long finals layoff. Considering last season the finals started on June 1st. I have to believe that Tatum and Brown will have the slight edge over Cryrie and Luka. Add depth with Porzingis, White and Horford. I have to go with Boston in 6 bringing a title back to beantown.

Kyrie looked awful and obviously he has shoulder some load
Porzingas matchup nightmare both ends
Tatum didn't even have to score much, got into the lane almost at will and set up the offense with Mavs running around to shift/help

Celtics too good and too deep, they might be the only team in history to have an eight man rotation where all of them are three point shooters, it doesn't matter who's in the game, everyone on the court at all times can knock down a three, makes it very hard to guard them, and other than Horford on pick and roll switches, there isn't a player you can target on defense, Irving got a taste of what elite defense looks like, and Porzingis looked like he was in mid season form, couldn't believe how well he played, Dallas has no answer for him, defensively they took away Luka's passes, allowed him to shoot it, he's going to score, no one is stopping him from getting his, but they didn't allow him to get his teammates involved, with Porzingis in the game that took away Luka's lobs at the rim, don't want to overreact to one game, but it's hard to see them losing four times

Booker making an all NBA team over JB is criminal, when judging a player defense should matter, JB is one of the best two way players in the game, if only he would make a damn free throw, confounding as to why he struggles at the line, but the only weakness in his game, he's an improved ball handler as well

Ok time to start pointing some fingers as to why Boston leads this series 2-0. Holiday was the best player on the court last night, especially in the paint, and even countering with Luka's triple double. Kyrie seems almost bashful when shooting and trying to score, plus he's getting cooked horribly on defense.Tatum is certainly not himself shooting the ball, but is doing other things to compliment Jaylen Brown who again played well. Porzingis looked more slowed down and hobbled last night in limited minutes. And you can't leave White wide open.

Jason Kidd is approaching this series too conservatively when it comes to role players. Does he plan on saving Tim Hardaway Jr. for games 3 and 4? I don't believe he is injured, but when you need another gun off the bench, he's been available but you're not going to him. Boston has not lost on the road this postseason, and the smell of sweep is becoming more ripe in the air.

Once again Irving got a taste of what elite defense looks like, and again he struggled

Surprised the Mavs gave up at the end, granted down 7 with 26 seconds is near impossible to come back from, but you never know, I once saw Reggie Miller score 8 points in like 10 seconds against the Knicks, why just give up, play it out till the end, by not fouling and allowing Boston to run out the clock they had zero chance to win the game

Luka looks hurt again. extra days off should help.
Porzingas looks like tweaked leg again.

Holiday is still +900 for mvp at Bet Rivers if somebody wants to bet $14 on it
