NFL Coaching Dumps

This playoff exit was especially disappointing given the Cowboys were 7.5-point favorites vs. the Packers. The Cowboys are the first team since the 1970 merger to lose three straight playoff games as a favorite of at least seven points. They lost to the Cardinals in 1998, Giants in 2007 and Green Bay on Sunday. A bonus No. 7: The Cowboys have lost seven straight games in the divisional round, the longest streak by any team since the merger. They won't have to worry about extending that this year.

Green Bay continues to have Dak Prescott's number. He has 10 career interceptions in six starts (1-5 record) vs. the Packers, his most career picks against any team. He hasn't even thrown 10 interceptions against any of his NFC East rivals.

Despite having No. 11 on defense, the Cowboys allowed 48 points. The only team to allow more at home in the postseason was Washington in the 1940 NFL Championship game (lost 73-0 to the Bears).
The Cowboys went 12-5 for a third straight season but have nothing to show for it. They are the first team in NFL history with three straight 12-win seasons without a Conference Championship game.

His father was sent to prison for 38 years. Now CJ Stroud is a record-breaking NFL rookie QB advocating for prison reform

Stroud was raised for the majority of his life by his mother after his father, Coleridge Bernard Stroud III, pleaded guilty in 2015 to charges of carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, evading an officer with reckless driving and misdemeanor sexual battery. As a repeat offender, he was sentenced to 38 years in prison.

As a result, Stroud spent a large portion of his childhood living with his three other siblings in a small apartment above a storage unit while his mother worked to earn money to put food on the table.

However, against the odds – he was once told by a teacher that he had a 0.0078% chance of making it into the NFL – Stroud has made it to the top of his chosen sport.

To bad- you can do all the robbing you want now and walk away scot free, or get released in a few hours.

Carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, sexual battery, repeat offender… but Stroud is concerned about prison reform?!?
Giving this despicable, violent, pondscum, thug prison time is EXACTLY what prison are SUPPOSED to do!

Stroud and his ilk have successfully accomplished prison reform – and it’s exactly what jammer posted in the next post- violent, repeat offending criminals get a slap on the wrist and get sent right out to commit more carjackings, kidnapping, robberies, and sexual batteries.

CJ is a great quarterback and seems like a great person in many ways. But his wokeness about blaming his violent, despicable father’s actions on lack of prison reform is egregiously wrong.

In the woke world, and in the black victimization industry, blacks never ever have personal responsibility for anything negative

Me thinks Pittsburgh could use a new voice at coach. Tomlin's message has gone stale!
The question is why doesn't tomlin ever even try to get a good QB? He kept big ben around for an extra 3-4 years as he declined and since then it's been all bums and retreads.

Pitt was trying to find a QB and drafted one in the 1st round two years ago. Drafting is an inexact science. Almost everyone thought Bryce Young was the clear #1 pick and look how that has turned out so far. CJ Stroud who went after Young looks like the next superstar.

Eagles Sirianni is a tough call. Winningest Philly coach, but this collapse 😏

It's not just the collapse.....it's the fact that the Eagles looked like a 3-14 team by the end of the year.

With all that talent, it is simply unacceptable. Horrible schemes, poor execution, a defense that couldn't cover or tackle, and a team that absolutely quit when the season still could have been salvaged.

Sirianni was in over his head from the beginning. He had two great coordinators that hid his flaws last year. When they left, and he had to make adjustments on his own, he was rendered clueless.

Bottom line......he gotta go!!!

And he will by this weekend.

Good points, plus all the OC musical chairs made Hurts look human. By seasons end give me Fields over Hurts.

By the end of the season the Eagles defense was possibly the worst defense in the league. Looks like their coach lost the team. No execution or effort. You can't fix something that broke.

The question is why doesn't tomlin ever even try to get a good QB
They drafted Pickett a couple years ago, the jury is still out on him, but the early returns haven't been impressive, and if it was that easy to find a franchise QB, every team in the league would have one

Plus I don't think Tomlin is the GM, just the HC. Probably some input but he's not the man dictating who gets drafted.

BTW after 11 games this year Philly was 10-1, Tampa 4-7. Only makes sense the Bucs smoked them in the playoffs.

Like my ex used to say it's the ending that counts.

So now Fangio dumped in Miami heading to Philly as DC. Talk about old boy network.

At one point Dolphins had #2 defense in the league. Mahomes embarrassed them in a blizzard and he's out 🤷

the Commanders are supposedly sending an entire contingent to Detroit on monday
If they were a smart well run organization they would hire the OC from Detroit, but they're not, so they'll give the job to the Hoodie, who is way past his prime

The NFL is the only league where ex coaches routinely go down to coordinators without a loss of respect, belechek should do that if no one will hire him.

I wonder how smug and entitled he was in those atlanta interviews?

Eagles Newly Hired DC Could Bring More Locker Room Turmoil

Just two days ago, on Wednesday, January 24th, it was reported that the Eagles were finalizing a deal with Dolphins DC Vic Fangio, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Since then, though, there have been reports of Dolphins players actually celebrating the fresh departure of their veteran coach

In a piece detailing some of the social media posts from Dolphins players, Ryan Morik of Fox News wrote that “Injuries were a problem for Fangio’s Dolphins defense this season, especially on the defensive line. However, members of that defense seem to think the issues went far beyond the medical report.”

There’s an informal, colloquial expression in English you may have heard before where someone tells another to go away or leave by saying, “Go kick rocks!” This is usually said in frustration, which is leading many to think that this video posted by Dolphins Safety Jevon Holland is happy about Fangio leaving.

That same day, Dolphins cornerback Cam Smith just posted an unlocked emoji as well,

If the music stops on the 2024 HC cycle without BB having a chair, I would think that he would follow a Sean Payton type approach and be a Sunday morning network studio analyst while he's waiting for any next gig.

In that role, he is freely available to speak with potential suitors and slot into any HC position that is offered to him, if he also wants to HC for that organization, at any time during or after the 2024 season.

As I understand the NFL hiring rules, if he's instead a DC somewhere during the 2024 season, other teams first would have to request permission to talk to him; and if the team he's working for is in the playoffs, there are restrictions on how and when he can be contacted, in-person interviewed, etc. There's none of that if he's instead parked in a broadcast studio.

Being a DC on a good team would give him a shot at another SB ring, as a DC. But I believe that Shula's all-time win record -- as a HC -- is the prize that BB wants the most, more so than even another SB ring as "just" the DC. And parking for maybe a year as a studio analyst gives him the most unrestricted shot (in terms of initial contact rules) at becoming a HC again -- to then be able to go after Shula's record as well as another SB ring instead as a HC if he can pull that off.

So I think he has the most flexible shot at going after what he wants the most by going to the studio. (Flexible in terms of at least contact, etc. rules -- I'm sure if he and another team wanted to hook up, they'd ultimately find a way. But he doesn't have to deal with any of that instead as a TV analyst.)

And "he's not getting any younger," so the most unfettered option -- the broadcast studio -- perhaps is the best for him at this point.

Again assuming that one of the last couple of teams left here in 2024 don't pick him up or Reid doesn't retire and possibly serve him up a championship contender with an elite QB on a silver platter, if that position were offered to him.

With anything that Belichick does in 2024 other than being a HC -- whether a studio analyst, a DC, or whatever -- the press of course will keep his name hovering over every coach that's on the hot seat during the 2024 season (regardless of whether the position then would be offered to him or BB would even want to work for an owner and team that very well could be a dumpster fire at that point -- "cough, Tepper and Carolina"). The press loves that kind of continuing, easy-to-report story.

Bill Belichick expected to take television job

With the NFL’s hiring cycle nearly complete, it looks like six-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick will be without a head coaching job for the 2024 season after parting ways with the New England Patriots earlier this month. But even though fans might not see Belichick on the sidelines next fall, it doesn’t mean they won’t see him on television, as it sounds like Belichick is expected to take a broadcast job for at least the 2024 season

In a report this week, NFL insider Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports cited “several sources” who expect Belichick to take a job on television in 2024.

Jones points out that Belichick has actually done television both locally in New England as well as nationally and could bring a lot to a network as a noted historian of the game in addition to his obvious expertise as a six-time Super Bowl champion head coach. As a result, he would have no shortage of suitors.

“Every network would want him,” one media agent told Jones. “He would revolutionize media with the way he prepares.”

The agent told Jones that while Belichick will be highly coveted by any and all networks, he would be best served as a studio analyst instead of calling a game as an announcer, saying that his voice presence “isn’t big enough” to call a game.

While there are mixed expectations for what he could bring to a network with Mike Tirico insisting Belichick would be “awesome” on TV and Fred Toucher saying he would be “terrible” as a broadcaster, it’s clear that Belichick would have no shortage of suitors if he did decide to step into the media world. He’s already been offered a job at The Ringer by Bill Simmons, and Pat McAfee insists that his show will be “in the running” to land Belichick.

Yeah, definitely looking at his pressers as a HC. But he has demonstrated an at least less unlikable persona when doing other things on media.

Part of the advantage of doing the studio route is that he can show a different aspect of his personality, for what that's worth.

I don't watch those Sunday studio shows -- or any other studio analyst shows -- anyway, so, yeah, I won't mind either way, lol.

Drew Butler said the ATL/Belichick thing was age. He was the ATL owner's yacht soon after leaving NE.....the 2nd interview he was " put through the wringer"....they decided to go with a 5 year deal and a younger coach looking at it in a long-term future kind of a way
