This was a fun read! What a way to make a living. Wouldn't be fun to live next door and have VD coach us on sportsbetting the intelligent way?

VD

What is some information about this group called "The Savages" or "the Animals"? I am referring to the guys from the book "Gaming the Game". If you could comment on guys like the Rooster, the Sheep, Philly Godfather to name a few off the top of my head.

Also anything you can comment about the Timmy the bad bad ref situation or games.

Thanks for a fun read. Love to read about the history of Offshore. VD, were you ever booking in the Margharita Islands? The first Offshore I ever dealt with in the mid 90's was there, and there were several books there. EZ Bets, and then a Book called Margharita, I believe. The well known Poster and Forum Owner Freddie the Devil was a Bookie there, I believe.

I really don't know any of these gentlemen or their involvement in the industry...just maybe a few stories I heard but cannot substantiate...

Never did book at Margharita Island but I was an agent for one of the books down there by a couple guys from the east coast back in 192/94...the late Dickie Stevens got me hooked up with them...Rainbow knew Stevens pretty well...

the paying and collecting big money stuff is interesting. Viejo, did you ever have to get rough with anyone while collecting?

I'll tell you one thing VD, I've lived in Calif. for the last 38 years after living in Jersey for 30 years. Even with all the beautiful beaches in Calif., I still miss the Jersey shore. Used to go fishing out of Shark River inlet for fluke and blues. Loved to walk the boardwalk at night and take in all those smells from the ocean. I know you know what I'm talking about!

How could anyone not love partying with all the Snooki and J-Woww types at the Jersey Shore (and way before they were even thought of)

Never...during those days everyone paid and all the people I had to see were by appointment only...fixed place and time....in San Fran always saw people at a couple chinese restaurants or at Candlestick...

Have you played a nicer course than Newport Country Club in all your travels ?

Well look who is posting...one of the forum legends...:LMAO

I have played nicer courses but none with the history of Newport Country Club...it was such a trip to play with you and Kevin and to meet a couple of the members...what a history that place has...

Hope you and your family are doing good...To those who don't know Joey, he is one of the best soccer handicappers I know and we have had a blast hanging out at various parties with Dsethi and friends in Virginia and Newport, Rhode Island...hope you post more here Joey...

Books make money during baseball but it is regarded as the slow season...only major sport where you can get true odds on either side...that is why the books limit the number of dogs in a parlay....some say it is the easiest to beat, but I really don't think so unless you are scalping...

I used to hang at the old Stone Pony where Springsteen got his start. He came by unannounced one night and played solo for an hour and bought me and a buddy a beer.

Yup that is pretty much the sweet spot. Bruce's shore band was before my time, and never got to catch him in one of those surprise appearances he usually makes every so often with any of the top Jersey Shore cover bands the last few decades.

Ha, I wrote the last response before I even read this. Awesome stuff. Stuff like that is why he has the most concert sellouts in Philadelphia history. Just knows how to connect with the people. I never was quite lucky to catch one.

Re: Q&A with Viejo Dinosaur

VD, tell us the story about the 200lber in Panama. Or the lap dance in Cuba from the 70 year old.

Re: Q&A with Viejo Dinosaur

Viejo is all class and it is a privilege to have met him and known him. I do hope one day down the road I can repay both him and Judge Wapner/Willy Loman for their generosity. Both are pocket aces in my book!

18 or 19

It was in the late 80's. There was maybe 25 people in the bar. Everyone got a free beer so we weren't all that special. Gary US Bonds was the featured band that night.
