What are the odds of the Tokyo Olympics being cancelled?

Why Is this different than all the other end of the world panics we've had in the last 25 years that fizzle out, that I mentioned in post #8? Been there, done that. Bought The T Shirt.
the difference is 50 million people are quarantined for the first time in the history of the world, obviously this virus is a serious threat .. hopefully by the summer when it gets to 110 degrees it will start to fizzle out but who knows .. in the mean time if you can get a hold of a bunch of these protective masks you can make a fortune

Better safe than sorry although the IOC went face first into Zika and SARS when it had to deal with those. They are aiming to go through with it. This is dumb. No fans, athletes or Olympic workers will want to be exposed to both the stress and potential Physical reality of contracting. This just started and we know nothing. Patient 0 wasn't even at the market so tons who haven't been tested may have it. I will take the plus and the Yes. They shut schools down there today and March is 2 days away. Can't see this going away magically in the 90 days in March-April-May.

Anything just so we can say Dick Pound more.

Olympics start at almost the end of July, its more time than you think. People on the ground in Asia are just starting to reopen things, knowing it will be slow going. But if you are a small business person that owns a restaurant or store, unless your landlord is giving you reduced rent you have no choice but to try to get what you can and just little staffing. I know people living in Hong Kong and Vietnam, they said its definitely starting to pick up and maybe 2-3 weeks it should be at least 75% of previous levels. They are hoping in summer much of the losses are made up so I'd say Olympics on is the right side.

20 years ago they played a NCAA game in Ct. with only the players cause of measles. The games go on. The betting will not stop.

hearing 5 new cases in Los Angeles today .. I know you are not an expert but how serious do you think this will be? will Disneyland Anaheim be closed soon? Vegas does not have a confirmed case yet but it is just a matter of time imo hopefully I'm wrong .. the only good thing about all this is apparently it is not deadly for children .. Is it a good idea to stay away from highly populated areas like casinos at this time? yesterday at Arizona Charlies a lady was coughing and sneezing and nobody said anything but I looked around and noticed everyone sort of had an odd look on their face obviously everyone was aware of this lady coughing

Anyone who thinks they can hide and somehow ever avoid this is kidding themselves. How has eradicating the flu gone? This thing is with us forever, viruses don't go away. It probably will diminish in the summer because viruses are harder to pass on then, but it will return in the fall. As with all viruses precautions can be taken to reduce risk of catching it and inevitably there will be a vaccine that reduces its worst effects, but if only we had leadership on this to state the obvious that no one wants to believe.
