Re: "Winning Wednesdays" presents Jimmy Vaccaro

This should be the highest rating show since the passing of Ken Weitzner.

Your listenership should reach into the hundereds, today.
No show. So this qualifies as tying the other no-shows for the lowest ratings ...:(

My "Winning Wednesdays" selection is New Mexico -12.5 over TCU. Barry Holthaus likes BYU -5 over San Diego State.

We apologize for the technical difficulties. Jimmy Vaccaro has agreed to return for next week's show.

I was sure you would be going with BYU for your Winning Wednesday pick JK, at least I got the right conference with New Mexico and very unusual for you to "lay the lumber" of -12 1/2 against TCU. By the way Steve Fisher is 1-10 his lsat 11 against BYU. Good luck Barry H. Make it two in a row.

So JK, is New Mex the play you've been waiting for for 2 weeks? If so, it just barely gets a mention now?

New Mexico isn't a team I ever planned on laying 12.5 with, but I tailed and I'm glad I did. Covered the 12.5 by 12.5 ... 25 point victory.

Thanks for the winner

I'll steer clear of the NBA. In the interests of full disclosure, I split my two NBA plays tonight. The Nuggets got the money over the Pistons, but the Clippers laid an egg in the fourth quarter against the Rockets.

Re: "Winning Wednesdays" presents Jimmy Vaccaro

Last week's edition of "Winning Wednesdays" fell victim to technical difficulties. Join us this week at our new Internet home (www.vegasallnetradio.com). John Netto has been added to this week's lineup.

Join hosts John Kelly and Barry Holthaus for one hour of sports talk from a gambling perspective. This week's guest is longtime Las Vegas bookmaker Jimmy Vaccaro, current oddsmaker at Lucky's. Vaccaro will discuss the state of Nevada's race and sports book industry, the recent 60 Minutes' interview with Billy Walters and the latest numbers for Super Bowl XLV between Green Bay and Pittsburgh.

"Winning Wednesdays" is EOG's Internet radio show dedicated to the survival of sports bettors everywhere. The program airs every Wednesday at noon Pacific time. The show can be heard live or archived at www.vegasallnetradio.com.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

first rip off tout i ever had @ 7 years ago. not sure how they found me, but, someone from his office called me,
stupid me got roped in, and i immediately lost 30,000. his group couldn't give out a winner if they had
tomorrow's newspaper. top it off, he was always unavailable to speak with; always had to go through
one of his touts. that movie with al pacino awhile ago---exactly hoe vacarro's office worked--i swear
on my kid's lives. he sucks!!!!!! fuck him!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the respect, birdie.

I will try my best to sneak in a question about Jimmy's association with a tout service. Here's my guess: he sold his name for a modest amount and allowed the touts to market his brand. Big mistake and I'm confident he would not do it again. Live and learn.

Re: "Winning Wednesdays" presents Jimmy Vaccaro...TAKE TWO

Vacarro was talking about 'in progress' (adjust line during commercial breaks) betting the other night. Luckys has reinstated it for the NFL playoffs which is different than 'in running' betting that the 'M' offers. Ask him what the limits are and if they had it last year did they have enough people behind the counter to accomodate everyone since you only have 3-4 minutes to get your bets in.

Lastly ask Jimmy if he ever missed a 'Soprano's' episode and how he liked the last one... :)

No need to prep for tomorrow's interview. EOG Nation has laid out all the questions. Thanks Heim and thanks to all.

Ask Jimmy if in the old days at the beginning of Race and Sports Books was he aware of the Mob's association with Stardust and the other casinos. Was he ever approached to work with/for the mob?

Re: "Winning Wednesdays" presents Jimmy Vaccaro...TAKE TWO

Can you ask Jimmy why Las Vegas sportsbooks (including Lucky's) feel it's okay to offer such ridiculously short prices on Derby futures? They might as well offer the Packers moneyline @ -1000 (with -700 on the other side).

I think I remember one Leroy's show when Jimmy said something to the effect that he had no problem with crappy future odds and would make 40 cent or worse lines on everything if he could get away with it.

JK, maybe you remember that, I hope I remember it correctly. In a way he's right, if people are stupid enough to bet bad futures, why not take advantage of it? OTOH, if competition works, some book(s) will offer good futures odds and people, if they are smart, will shop around and get a good price thereby letting the competitive book make more money via a bigger handle.

I remember, Bob. And Vic Salerno of Leroy's took it one step further by saying, "If you don't like our prices, bet somewhere else."

Leroy's is a shit hole operation that is run by shitheads and has ruined betting in Nevada. The morons they have working behing the counter are the dumbest people you will ever meet in your life

I have One question for Jimmy - one I have never seen asked or answered: Offshore books allow you to make "IF" bets - we all know what that is so no need to rehash it here. Why won't/can't/don't Nevada Books allow/do the same thing?

I know the books don't mind when people win because they figure most will just bet more games with the money and they will get the money they paid out back in their pockets. But if there is a 10A NFL game that runs long and doesn't end in time for people to get paid and then bet the 1P games Nevada books lose out on the chance to get that money back. But if they allowed "IF" bets they could have people bet both the 10A and 1P games at the same time and not have to worry about games running long because the "IF" bets will have action on those games

I'd love to hear Jimmy explain why Nevada can't/doesn't do "IF" bets
